im sure in your CROWN VIC life is wonderful!!!!
but when you 80000+# behind you you'll be alot happier
with jake(loud or not) than smoking the brakes hoping that you'll make it
down this hill in one piece!!!!!!!

Few years back I seen my boss drag a driver out of his truck for resting his foot on the clutch. He was pulling out of the parking lot when the boss man flagged him down to tell him something. The driver threw it in nuetral and stopped. When the boss got up to the truck, he opened the door and the driver was resting his foot on the clutch and the sh#$ hit the fan. Thats a big no no!! You never floated gears back then either. Those kinda things would get your ### kicked. Oh, and the driver had to jack the truck up and adjust the brakes, and fix anything else that needed fixed, and yep, you guess it, we got paid on percentage.

long time ago a old mechanic friend of mine ,once told me(and i used this as a rule of thumb) if your rpms are below 15 on the tach theres no need for a jake due to running the jake below those rpms can bend a valve and run into a big exspence, but just my piont of view!!!!!:biggrin_2556:

:biggrin_25523: key word in this thread (RETARDATION) roflmao,,its a freaking jake break designed to slow you down on steep down grades,to lesson use of the brakes /hence not over heating and frying them,,so what if it burns fuel?????the engine has to run some how right bronc:biggrin_25523:

Just like wine, it's an acquired taste. I seldom turn mine off, except for rest areas, my co. has such slow, underpowered trucks, it helps me get going better. You have to figure out how much to keep the fuel on though with some trucks(they slip seat, one more reason I want my own truck ASAFP!) Once you figure that out you'll shift more smoothly, just comes with experience, I also get MAD if I have to work my left leg too hard, I only use the clutch when I start or stop, I'll drop to low gear b4 that! HAHA!:biggrin_25525: BTW, I still pull down over 7 MPG normally, they post our results for everything from idle time to breakdowns, rotten ***es!
