Yeah I mean 55k a year home everyday with weekends off isn't bad at all but having to do night work is a huge turn off and most major areas you can make that with day work

No matter who, where, whatever and move my
Whole household in a u haul to the job without
Ever turning a mile for them.
What happens if 3 weeks in you realize it's not
What thought it was or you just hate the job.
Money's not right,
Manager is a butt hole,
Equipment is lacking, anything.
Now your back to square one.gsmith2332 and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
As far as not moving and just commuting out to these jobs, the places I'm applying to are pulling that "domicile" garbage saying that "You're only getting the job if you're willing to relocate".
Small town life is nice, but then like I've mentioned in other posts, we're limited to strict, agriculture related hauling around here. Plenty of other trucks do business here, but of you want to get on with them, you have to move out to them. -
Lots of things to consider here. Would you be uprooting your family, or are you without family? Do you own, (or buying,) where you currently live? Do you see yourself living where you now live in 5, 10, 20 years? If you really want to stay where you are, are you willing to take whatever comes along to make it there?
And a whole lot of others.
I agree with the poster who said that he wouldn't consider relocating for a new job, without a "trial time" first.bentstrider83 Thanks this. -
The "trial run" would be great if I could find a way to make it work. Figure a two week notice or leave of absence for a month to make sure it all goes well.
Big thing that's keeping me off of it is my preference for Weds/Thurs off. Keeping after these other, LTL outfits to see if they'll have me. -
I know in Phoenix it's like $17 per hour and nights which don't bother you. Weekends off, I know you would like Wednesday Thursdays off. Maybe you could work that out with them, maybe not. Plus relocation, that's a tough one.

Since you are footloose, you're in much better shape than if you had a family to support. This is a game changer. Just make sure the area you go to has enough jobs that if the first one doesn't work out, you have lots of choices.
Phoenix might be a good choice. Albuquerque not so much. -
If there is one good thing about the fringe lands of eastern NM/west TX, it's that I don't run into too many of them out here.austinmike and carramrod32 Thank this.
