Just let it go bro because if you don't they can boot you off here.

Some of the people on here type it but they do not reread it to make sure it does not look offensive or can be taken the wrong way.

I got into a few heated discussions but I backed off and just said what ever and went on my way.

The best advice I can give you is walk away and do not argue with them you will be better off.

im just gonna let it go, i ma not gonna deal with a keyboard know it all. i am gonna do my own thing and let someone tell me i am right or wrong in what happens. i got enough on my plate, gettin real hard to find anyone who will hire me because of where i live. even though i live 1.5 miles from hwy 97 wich is a major corridor in oregon it is hard to find a job, i am sure alot of it has to do with the economy right now. trying to go O/O but even with my credit gettin hard to finance a truck. gonna be harder with winter coming on, allreayd go a couple inches of snow on the ground here.

well from what i have read you would be better off going to a smaller trucking company or local and geting some good time in with a carrier and stop jumping. It is hard i know but it is what you have to do. I have been with 3 companies over the last 20 years, companies like that so try it just suck it up and do your job, keep the wheels rolling.

After having worked for May Trucking for 5 yrs. I think I can say a thing or two about them. 1st there road test is very tuff. They will fail you for shifting on an r.r. track, hitting a curb, running a yellow lite, failure to back up in a timely manner etc. etc. They take safety very seriously. Those who can not drive need not apply. 2nd they run the ef 13 speed with a Cummings ISX 450 because they BUY all there trucks. They buy them with the intention of selling them to o/o and any o/o with any sense wants a 13 speed. They are VERY easy to drive. As a truck driver you should be able to get in to ANY truck with ANY eng. and ANY speed trans and drive it. 7,8,9,10, super 10,12,13,15,18, what ever this come with experience. something you only get if you stay at one company for longer then a few months.

Now having said all of this. Layton is a crap hole. always has been. May Trucking use to be a very good company to work for. In order to get hired you had to have at lest 2+yrs exp. Then about two yrs ago they got the bright idea to start training students. They've been going down hill from there. Oh it's not BECAUSE of the students. It's because sense then they've been getting more and more like SWIFT. Till finally today the drive 62 mph trucks driven by a bunch of rooks that can't deliver on-time and wreck everything. they do stupid things like having the driver stick the tank because there to cheap to put some fuel on and write you up because the truck went more the 65 down a hill. That was my q to move on. Time to find a new company that likes a hardworking exp driver. Every company has it's good and bad points. but may has WAY to many bad and very few good.

They never wrote me up for over the speed down hills I hit 72 mph down alot of smaller hills.

What is wrong with hiring students? They get incentives to hire students.

They probaly had to hire students because the experinced guys could not handle all of the loads they are getting.

I was a student hire and had one late load but it was my dm's fault how can you deliver a load on time if there is not a delivery time on the dispatch?

I was baised out of Layton and I had a bad dm, pos truck that is why I am no longer there I refuse to work for those people out of layton.

The mechanic's there would have a tough time finding their way out of a wet paper sack. I took my truck into them when it was not running right with the turbo cutting off they tried to blame my driving on the reason the turbo was cutting off.

They tried to say I was over speeding the turbo, They also tried to say I would push in the clutch or take the truck out of gear to reach those speeds down hill.
I toild them nope all you have to do is keep the truck floored while going down hills and it will keep gaining speed.

Though just a week prior I was driving my trainers truck the same way that I was driving mine and we had no problems with his truck.

All of the turning down the power and cutting the speed down will come back to bite then in the rear soon enough with huge repair bills.

The engine need to be run harder and faster sometimes driving slow only makes things worse.

In my oppinion 65 mph was too slow.
I had people that were mad at me because the truck would not move faster.

What truckin' company do you know of that runs THAT many different
    transmissions?
From my experience, most truckin' companies prefer to use only one,
or only a few different transmissions types to help keep their maintenance costs
    down.

That being the case, how would a Big truck truck driver, who remained
with the same company for many years, learn all the different transmission combinations?

I realize that there's not all that much difference betwixt the
    8, 9, 10, 13 and 18 speed transmissions, but I think the auto-shift
transmissions might be different than the conventional transmissions
when it comes to the proper use of them.

How quickly a driver adapts from an auto-shift to a conventional transmission,
or vice-versa, I'm thinkin', would depend on their level of overall
experience and/or confidence level. But I doubt every GOOD Big truck
truck driver will be able to just jump into ANY Big truck, and drive it
with proficiency, right off the bat.
    Especially if they weren't a job-hopper.

I'snt it amazing how many garage apes can tell you what your doing
wrong or how everything is your fault WITHOUT being in the jump seat, never taking a test drive with ot without you, or EVER hooking
up a computer to download all the info stored on the OBDC ( On Board Diagnostic Center)--storage area in the computer that houses
all that needed info that a computers have.....
ITS ALWAYS THE DRIVERS FAULT....so says your DM, the Garage Ape, Safety Dept...etc,etc....
But try to get them to fix the Da** things PROPERLY and all you get are excuses....:biggrin_25511:
