This is the number one reason to have a high rail! At least one of my posts are going to catch this guy.

I calmly offered to call the police for him and said they can have my dash cam footage. We'll see what the police have to say. He stood there smoking his cigerette by his car about 500' from me and then left. He stayed much longer cops would have been called and I don't think he would have liked the result.

Yes the dash cam is the best tool for safe professional drivers in my opinion. I installed a 4 camera system for each side of the rig. It uses so little voltage that I let it run 24/7 and it saves about 7 days before writing over the oldest file. I have a split screen monitor on the dash and now I can check my blind spots without taking my eyes off the road. I hope I never need it, but the camera won't lie in court.

If you don't mind, what camera system are you using? Now that I am back on the road I want to upgrade from my $30 el cheapo dash cam to a good quality 4 camera system.

Ditto I would like a 3 camera system but haven't found a cost effective option I can install in company truck.

My experience has been that my spot mirrors do a great job if the camera is mounted correctly. On my Cooper rig the spot mirrors were on the ladder at the end of the hood so my camera was good on the dash. With my new rig I had to move the camera to the back window and use bubble mirrors on my hood post. Now my side cams are mounted on the post's facing back. Forward cam is in ceiling by CB mount and rear cam is by trailer license plate. I spent about $600 and 8-10 hours on the installation. Worth it to me.

The sales rep was at the MidAmerica truck show. If you need more info, let me know. The side cams are aerodynamic. image.png image.png

Can anyone on this thread enlighten me on the current rates for transporting finished vehicles/new cars?

Currently, I handle a lot of local auction work and off-lease Vehicles for ADESA and Mannheim but I would like to transition to transporting new vehicles, if the rates are right.

I have my own authority and my own trucks.

Anybody on here have some knowledge they can share on rates? Seems like Hansen & Adkins and United Road have most of the work in California; I could be wrong about this?

I’m a small independent carrier and I’ve been hauling flatbed trailers and a dry van on my other truck. A guy I met hauling cars told me that he gets paid a certain amount per mile per car. Is this always the case? Or will most loads pay a flat rate for the load like $1.80-$2.00 per load no meter what? If that’s the case I’ll just stick to flatbeds Bc the trailers are super cheap. I know this thread was a few years ago, but I hope I get a reply.
