And I keep it on,
Today on I-70 in Missouri I hit the empty Service road and cruised past a 6 mile backup saving at least 30 minutes, umlike the hundreds of trucks stuck in that mess.
(Thanks westbound for the heads up) and Garmin traffic didn't warn me of the delayrabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Same as me,got a bike all track ready and i practiced with track days, recorded some of my laps to watch later....Suddenly some kid on a much smaller bike with less than half the hp and weight smoke me most of the time...
Its not what you buy that make ya,its getting the most out of what ya got with the know how to back it up..
As you can see by the pic,i got the gear but just didnt know how to use it well enuf compared to a more knowledgeable rider who was galf my age, weight and hp..Attached Files:

With same radio and coax and a 10k i was lucky to get much more than 10 miles..I swapped my 10k out for a 7ft skip shooter and almost trippled my range in most cases...
Problem is usually the fella at the other end..Most times they cant hear ya or reach out to ya....
A gooned up radio, crap coax and poor ant choice to its specific location...
Actually if your running less than 500 watts, you wasted $90..
Dont get me wrong,i love my 10k's and ill keep the two i have but they will not be goin on a cascadia or anything like it..Im only running about 70ish watts so its pointless..
When and if i buy a house, ill keep them for a base set up some how..rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -

I have never heard a base station shooting skip ever say anything remotely interesting, never ever!
They are the most boring losers who must live in their mom's basement.
I hate the drivers that want a radio check from a cb shop and thinks that means anything.
10 miles is more than enough to know what's going on , and my setup helps me catch the underpowered out of the box radios warning me of something.wolverine11 Thanks this. -

Ahh Tuck you and that predator, lol.
It's aluminum so you get the triboelectric effect due to friction with the particles that make up the air... i.e. more static.
My oil coil FrankenTenna™ has twice as much shaft as your predator and I keep it almost straight up. Like 5 degree lean because even solid 3/8" stainless shaft will flex a little bit at 54" long...
Anyway, I want to talk 30+ miles...mainly because I shoot skip because I'm a loser who lives in my mom's basement a white Freightliner, and if you can do 30+ miles without conditions, you can DX with ease when they arrive.rabbiporkchop, wolverine11, lilillill and 1 other person Thank this.
