I started with Knight on June 1st. I have 5 years driving experience but the last three were local. I wanted to go back to OTR now that my wife and I are empty nesters. I looked at several companies and to be quite honest Knight wasn't even on the radar screen. However a friend began driving for them and he wad really having a positive experience so I decided to at least apply.

After talking to the recruiter at the Nashville TN terminal I got a call from the Terminal operations manager. He recognized my name because he used to dispatch me at Averitt years ago. After a long conversation I agreed to give KNIGHT a try. Gotta say so far I really like it. I'm having no problem getting 3000 miles a week or more. I'm out 12 and home 2. I wish they had APU's but since I'm on a CPAP machine they have no issue with me idleing. The terminals are nice. I love the free laundry. I have a good truck. Loads tend to have very realistic delivery windows. Communicating with the folks at Nashville is pleasent. I like the Zonar.

I'll be very real with this thread. If something sucks I'll be real. I tend to be a positive guy and not much gets to me but I have my moments. Any questions? Ask.

Zonar is their version of the Qualcomm. It's elogs, messaging, pretrip, GPS, etc. I use it every day. Sometimes it gets moody and I have to give it a quick restart but I like it much better than Qualcomm. Very user friendly and has many uses.

Knight is great to work for so far. Great miles. No problem getting 3k miles or more per week. I'm home for the weekend and glad. Need some rest.

I'm staying very busy. Had three days at home last weekend. Headed out Monday morning Loudon TN to Fort Worth TX. Then Dallas to Fort Pierce FL. Pick up in the morning in Tampa headed to Phoenix AZ. I'll get a 34 in there and visit family.

Took 4 days off with my family in Phoenix. Picked up in Tolleson and taking it to Dallas. After I drop this load on Thursday morning I have a live load to fetch a few miles down the road that I'll pull to Adairsville GA for a Saturday drop. Then I get to run thru the house in Tennessee. No complaints after almost 2 months.

I'm staying busy. Preplanned thru last weekend and now preplanned to the house for home time and its only Tuesday. My average is 2900 miles per week even when I add in the low home time weeks. I'm really liking it here. I give my first 2 months an A.

What are they paying you as far as cents per mile?
And those "safety bonuses"... are they really going to happen?
Have you actually received one yet?
And how much are you paying for medical insurance for both you and your spouse?
I worked there about five years ago and I was making something like $800.00 bucks a week for upwards of 100 hours of work per week.

I'd be very surprised if things were much better today.... may as well work two, full time, minimum wage jobs and sleep in my own bed every night. I figure the pay would be about the same as driving OTR for Knight.

    Surfer Joe,
I'm averaging $1200 a week before taxes. Bring home has been $950. I'm just now getting insurance. $90 a week including additional life and disability. I am on a sliding scale of 41 to 50 cents a mile. I average a 10 hour day. I'm out of the Lebanon TN terminal which is very relaxed. If I was out of a bigger terminal my experience may not be going as well as it is. It's a good fit for me.
