They're not telling you to do it. Simply recording the experience.
How does that weigh on you in any way?
Btw, the 550 a week is total for everything, not just the payment. You'd already know that if you followed the thread from the beginning.
Jumping on to just to insult someone for trying solves nothing, and makes it look like you are too arrogant to realize that there are ups and downs for everyone.
Each of us has a different story and background.
We can all be the hero of our own story without having to play the villain in someone else's.

It makes sense now that all you guys can think about is miles and never mentioned rate per mile. No talk of picking your own loads. Thats not how o/o's think. Most conventional warnings about l/p ring true here. You're a glorified employee taking most of the risk for little of the reward.
Op mentioned they were considering Landstar after truck was paid off and boy are they in for a shock if they do. No dispatch, no maintenance fund, no training wheels. They could run for a lot more than three quarters a mile though.paul_4lp Thanks this. -
We have the choice of loads and can refuse any. We deal with brokers weekly. You are assuming I know and hubby knows nothing about OO. We do know and plans are being made to cover costs when change is done. That .15 cents a mile will go into a fund. I have already made note on LS and am in contact with OO running with them. No surprises here I run computers since 80s and really know my way around them. Also have run my own businesses in past for many years as sole proprietor. I will be planning and booking, which puts us head of many in LS, since I can watch boards all day long and call agents. Being a OO is All about contacts and contracts.Farmerbob1, Nicodemus606 and Wickedfire77 Thank this. -

So interesting fact from reading about elog mandate. We are exempt from using them once we own the truck based on the Year Engine was manufactured. Turns out hubby's reman engine is a 1998 so he can go onto paper logs if ruling now stands as is for elogs. Any engine before 2000 is exempt.

Driving is hazzardous to birds health. Today hubby caught a redtail hawk on his stack. Hawk still alive with broken wing. Cops called and they are waiting on animal control to come get it. It's on his step on drivers side and they are not moving it with help. He was on his way home, this will mess up his timing for sure.

First of all, Thank you for the very entertaining thread. Thinking of doing the L/P route. I have already been in contact with the company your husband drives for. Sounds very good! I was wondering if you guys have any advice for things to watch out for? I have never done lease purchase, but I have done a ### ton of research. This company to me sounds about the only option that seems viable. Math doesn't lie to you unless you make it.
Cybercat Thanks this. -
So talk to them first before signing on to make sure of what truck they have to put you in. There Classics and big Columbia are Red not white.
Remember you have to drive 45 days as company driver at very low pay. So if you have home bills make sure you got them covered for that time. Read up on People Net if your not familiar with it. They really don't train enough on it.
Be prepared to really work on communication. You will have to double check paperwork and talk with brokers as well as your dispatcher. You can PM me for more information.Nicodemus606 Thanks this. -

Story of the white Columbia. On the flat good fuel mileage but it needs fuel system cleaned out. Hubby says one he is driving up from Atlanta has algea in fuel. Both trucks being driven will go into shop when they get to MI. Other truck I am told has steering issues. They have similar pull to the OD trucks hubby ran. So mountain was 8th gear. He says no leg room, my CRV has more leg room than this white flat top Columbia. Supposedly these pulled tankers over at SNI and they changed them out for automatic versions.
On another note hubby now avoiding fueling up in IN it was way to high now in tax.Nicodemus606 Thanks this.
