Asking them will get the facts, but I believe you might have to go through an abbreviated 75 hr training instead of the 275.
You enter macros/commands into a small computer interface instead of drawing lines through a logbook. Commands include "ready for load", "arrived at", "completed loading", all which ask what line you are going to next.
If you get regional, there is a chance, albeit a slim one you can be home weekly. I think regional shows an average of 7-10 days out, with 48 states being 14+. By the grace of gawd you might get a dedicated route which can afford you more home time.
That is something that only they could tell you! -
They also have some local gigs in certain areas that will get you home nightly. If you get lucky enough to get on one. My dad is on one in Kansas City right now. They don't pay as much but if you need to be home it helps. Having some experience might help you get something you like too. I'm going to to orientation next week and I have been told by 3 different recruiters that I can get on the Dollar General account within a few weeks of completing my training. It'll get me home fridays and saturdays, but I have to unload the trailers. I guess I'll have to wait and see. I'll keep you posted.

werners a good company?hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha! O crap i just about p'd on myself laughing so hard. I gave those beeotches 15 yrs of my life, only to lose my job because i idiled the truck trying to sleep n 100 degree states. So yea "the big blue smurf's r a good company". Good for hurting and destroying good drivers lives. '' but to each his own",as the immortal bard once said. As u gain experience bud,u'll learn real quick how erroneous your original statement was. Hopefully by then u will have the insight and experience to run away fast.

You put up with everything for 15 years? Why didn't you follow your own advice? You must have the patience of a saint.
Or it might not have been that bad... -
how come they pay only 350 a week thats nothing.plus i got 15 years military driving experience!

Werner warned u just like the rest of us. all the trucks got the same message. solos 10hrs a day training trucks 8 a day. and i still come out way under were the want me to be. under 40 or 50 %. it's all common sense turn ur truck off at the shp and con. to everybody else does Werner have it's issues , of course none of the werner drivers here r going to say no to that. but so does every other trucking compony out there. drivers tell me not to go to swift englend ect ect ect . but u get out what u put in. and sometimes the get more then u do. thats life.

im in Omaha . who was Ur dispatcher. I'll find out what happened . the only real issue we have right now is the same problem every truck has LOW FRIGHT but there keeping us running. Werner pays 325 a week the first half of Ur training and 350 the second half. i guess because they can. it took me 3 mo to go thru my training because i was in a dedicated run it sucked but i stuck with it . at the end of Ur training the give u a choice if there no room on the road. stay on Ur training truck and get paid or go home and don't get paid. that's up to u. new guys just remember were hurting everywhere in the country right now .
