Trying to figure out and get advice and suggestions on which one last and the best?
And if you have any luck on running Recaps from your virgin tires being capped?

I've always heard you can't beat continental tires for spreads.
mslashbar Thanks this. -
Any particular brand name or model number they're on the Continental??
-
Michelin XZE ran them for years, great spread axle tire.
jamespmack Thanks this. -
Continental HSR. I use to run very heavy on a spread (60,000#). XZE made to 35,000 miles on the rear axle HSR would go to 70,000+. I would cap the casings 1 time. Usually would go to the drives but I did at times cap the trailer too. I never had one let go nor did I ever peel a cap off.
EdwinTheGreat218 and LoJackDatHo Thank this. -
When I tried the HSR they started cupping. I went back to the XZE's. They performed better for me. A lot of guys swear by the HSR's and they are cheaper. I bought 8 of them, ran that set out, then went back to the XZE's.
edit: If you only get 70,000 miles out a set of spread axle tires, your working that trailer way harder than I ever worked any of my spreads. ( I missed the 60,000# part)Last edited: Aug 8, 2017
jamespmack and Ruthless Thank this. -
Yeah only a 27 mile trip with several hard 90 turns. It was not uncommon to have 76,000 on the deck. -
BFG ST230 have been the best tire on spread for me (with a reasonable price). I get them for $343 a tire through my carriers account with Pomps.
I'm seeing about 140k mi on them running my spreads open 99% of the time. No lift axle. Just a dump valve on rear axle that I use when parking.

They replaced the HSR2 with the HA3. Pretty much same tire with a new model number.
spyder7723 and LoJackDatHo Thank this.
