Much rather ride around in my K100 than I would my W900, no comparison.

I never wanted to step on my steer tire to get in a truck.:biggrin_25513: Out of the literally dozens of trucks I drove, 2 were cabovers. A 4070B and a Frightliner setback axle FLA. Good lord, that was the worst truck ever!!

Add another 6' to that frame and the torsion bars will ride just fine. You'll really beat up the kingpin apron, though.

My old 69 C0F4070A,had 148"wheelbase,Hendrickson RTE 380,and a mechanical spring seat.It rode so bad,if I ran over a dime,I could tell you if it was heads or tails. Its just how it was back then. After years of torture in that,I bought my first conventional IH 4300 in 1977 and never looked back.Couldn't get legal with a 40' trailer, because of all the 55' length laws, but it was worth it for the comfort of not riding on the steering axle.

Don't forget the "find and grind" shift lever on those cabovers. Right side blind spot. Running down the road with your right wheels going down the shoulder, tire rubs in toll booths, however, backing in somewhere tight was a snap. ( with PS, of course)

And the famous 64 mph shake until you got to 70 or so before it smoothed out a little bit.

One COE was a GMC. Nothing but big turbo under the dog house.

I found a newer Pete cabover for sale not too far away. Happened to come across it on truck paper website. For $76k it can sit there and rot. Thing needed minimum $15k just to get it roadworthy. Don't believe that was a typo considering he had the insurance papers taped to the window when I looked at it and the declared value on the papers was 6 figures. I wouldn't pay more than $7500 for it based on how rough it was.
