    Looks like they weld them up in a box as a beam. I believe the pieces on the skid get welded on the side as a gusset or reinforcement point where a pin might go through.

    It looks like he's got it up against a bulkhead and has straps in the back. Then again, at least he has straps. I saw a truck on the way home today, 53' trailer, 50+ feet of load, two straps (it was some sort of steel fabricated thing, probably weighed no more than 10,000 lbs, but still).
