I had a Schneider ic bring his truck over to run under me back in March. He was averaging after my cut $1.70-1.80/mile on an average 2800 miles a week. When he was at Schneider he routinely ran 3200+ miles a week to bring home $1500. He came over here and did nothing but complain that he wasn't making money because in his mind the only way to make money is to run 3200+ miles a week. I tried to explain to him it's about the revenue not the miles and he didn't get it. He just left to go over to landstar where he's so happy about taking a load out of Pennsylvania to mobile Alabama for $1.45 before landstar takes there cut and then he's dead heading to Louisiana 350 miles to pick a load going to Jersey for a $1.55 BEFORE landstar takes its cut. But to him, he's working and making money because his truck is moving and he's doing over 3000 miles a week.

I tried to tell him that he was on track to gross to his truck after my cut over $210k for the year. It's That company driver mentality that keeps programs like the choice program alive. If drivers would learn to take the driving out of the equation and look at this like a brick and mortar business, they would realize they aren't making money, they only bought themself a job!

I get maybe 1 of those a week pulling a reefer. Most of the deliveries seem to be 5am or later. This load I am on delivers at 730am. Now I'll get loads that delivery at 2300 which is much better than 2am.

Long waits, odd drop times, rejected products, 1 more motor to have upkeep on along with the possibility of it breaking down, sitting at blue beacon with 50 other trucks waiting for a washout, rejected products at receiver, hiring lumped service... You get the gist.... I've got plenty experience is reefer, I'm well aware of what goes on...

Sure I complained here because I had to do 2 sometimes 3 loads a day to make good money here and when there's a Dentention problem my whole day gets screwed and Schneider basically doesn't pay dentention. I mean $50 after 6 hours, come on now smh.

I was reefer as a company driver prior to this, company drivers basically get paid the same as Van guys that's why it wasn't worth it for the extra bs but RATES are a lot higher.
Just scanning around saw stuff like this:

I want a piece of that action.
I don't mind reefer and sitting if the pay makes up for it.
All that was just a few random broker loads with rates posted.
To see rates like that and know there's drivers out here actually DOING the work for peanuts is absolutely sickening.

Wait a minute I'm doing the wrong the thing out here, what I should be doing is start a company and hire drivers and have people lease onto me and pay them trash being there's soo many drivers out here willing to work nothing.
I'd make a killing! Heck it's what all these companies are doing anyways and it's working for them!
Come on down! Lease onto Freightwipper Express for $1 a mile plus FSC! Hey that's better Than JCT TransAm and Stevens with their .84-.90!

you're right, Whipper........there's waaaaayyyyy too much money being left on the table. Cap'n Dave and Red October can attest to that. I'm looking to jump myself. Just haven't found the right company yet. Was put on to a company called US Truck Carriers last night.......pays 90% if you bring your own trailer.
