You do what is needed, but doing that day in day out would get old very fast.

If you have been detained 6-7 hours at a customer already, it makes perfect sense to stay there 3-4 more hours to get your 10 hr break. In a perfect world, we shouldnt need to be at a shipper for more than 2 hours. In the real world, 2 hours is a miracle with live loads.

Your real world is definately different than mine. If im at a place more than 2 hours and they aren't willing to compensate me for it that place will never see my truck again.

Side note. You do know you don't need a full 10 right? Get 8 gotta in and take off. Get the 2 other hours at the next stop.

That's workable IF you have enough time remaining on your 11 to get to where you need to go after your 8 hr break.

Not yet. Bill that would delay it for two years was introduced but that's all that has happened so far. Pre '99 and gliders are the only lucky ones so far.

    >>> Your right sleeping at a customer is crappy, BUT
your forgetting - where as the way WE all generally do it now if we are at a customer and our clock is up, no more time to move, say either your 14, or your 11 is done (or #### close) but there is a truck stop 45 mins down the road, we go. we adjust our log and we go.
NOW with the new ELD logs we CANT. the minute you start moving to head down the road, your ELD puts you in Drive mode, takes you out of sleep, now your sleeper time is screwed up and when your only had 30 mins left of drive time or less, but that truck stop is 45 mins down the road, well now you are in violation and there is NOTHING you can do to fix it.
    YOU ARE NOW SCREWED !!!
Your sleeper time is messed up and you have to restart, your in violation of your drive time and /or your 14 hrs. and there is absolutely no way to go back and fix any of it.
SO YEAH, bring on the ELDs, so i can tell the customer that the Federal Government is now telling me that i Can Not Leave, or Drive Because it is against the Federal Law for me to Move.
yeah that's going to go over real well at Walmart, Costco, or the small guy with 2 docks.

    > Yeah i have fingers and toes crossed and hoping that it does go through.
plus its BS, why do cattle haulers get exempt and we don't? what is so special about a cattle hauler as opposed tome hauling fresh vegs, or frozen, or med supplies, or any other JIT load???
