I would guess it's like trying to delete info off the cloud on my iPad, almost impossible to do.... -
spyder7723 and tucker Thank this.

(Nobody knows what a cloud is, just like nobody knows what crypto currency is) -
Every maker I talked to said there software is cloud based for storage and holds the information indefinitely not just six months worth.
This is why I posted this to begin with.
The law says that you need to retain 6 months worth so the cloud system should automatically purge any older data but none of the systems work that way. -
The system we use deletes log info past 6 months old.
-
I waited till tax time to download mine.
The whole year was available. -
But I highly doubt they are useing cloud based retention for there multi million dollar loging systems.
All I asked any of the company's I talked to is "do you have a system where I can just download from an eloger direct to my computers hard drive for storage".
The answer was no straight across the board.
You must download to the cloud first and then if you need to retrieve any of your data you must download it back to your computer as a file.
I have a gps that I use to track ifta and aportionment miles and I just bring it in to the office and my wife plugs it in to her computer and it downloads directly and then prints a report.
Why can't this be done with elogs? -

Drivers must keep 7 days prior plus current. This will be stored on an Electronic Device in the truck. Will it retain more, probably, but you only have to show 7 days prior plus current.
They cannot ask for more that what is allowed by the FMCSA.
