Forcing you to pay for parking, really.
I'm on e-logs and I never pay for parking.
Maybe it's because I start at 2am and beat the
Evening rush at the truck stops.

I really hate the "Need to plan better " responses because those are from folks that have no clue how the real world works. PLAN all you want, nothing ever goes according to plan.

Here are my plans since using ELD to maximize income.

    1. Go 5 mph faster than any posted limit. 75mph is not unusual for me.
    2. Only plan for 400 mile average runs daily OTR to avoid being late at customer. I set aside 3-5 hours daily for Onduty at customer site.
    3. Only stop for bathroom breaks when fueling, 30 min mandatory break, or at customer. No other stop permitted.
    4. Do most of my driving early morning hours between 1am to 7am.
    5. Get to truck stop before 4-6pm and shutdown for the night. To avoid any un necessary stops, i only stop at a truckstop that i can fuel, eat, shower, and take my 10hr break.

Additionally, I intake little liquid to avoid using restrooms. I go on 6-8 hours before needing to use restrooms.

I dont see how i can plan better than that. And yet I still run into tight situations with my Elogs

I'm on elogs and have only paid for Reserve parking twice.
But even with loose leaf paper logs, delivering on a Sunday afternoon in Slidell, LA , I would have needed that only empty spot at the TA.

You don't have to be an owner operator to use personal conveyance.

To complicates further, I can only fuel at TA/Petro because I get 0.50+ per gallon fleet discounts. This is a huge discount for anowner operater like me.

I have a flatbed, so 90% of my customer are only open Monday thru Friday 7-3pm for pickup and delivery. Most flatbed shippers closes early on friday and are close on weekend. Very rarely do I get a customer that I can pickup after 4 pm.

Trying to deliver at 7am sucks because everyone wants to do the same so there are usually a line.

ELD will affect the flatbed guys the most and being one myself get to experience most of the limitation imposed on truckers.

So let me get this straight... you backed yourself into a corner by cutting your day too close to the mark, parked illegally at a TS, were asked to move to a legal parking spot, and the fault is the machine?

I've been on E logs for 8 years, and I'm not saying I've never cut it close, but when I did I took the blame for the decision.

Pay the money, if you're lucky, your company will pay your parking. If not, well, lesson learned, driver.

Horse ####. I'm an o/s hauler. Owner op to boot(real owner op). I deal with way more restrictions and time constraints than you. I have no problem parking. If you try to only stop at the big four, yeah you're going to have problems. There is a ton of parking (most places) if you know where to look. Yes I run an ELD too!
