Those of us in the reefer segment do virtually everything by appointment, and no late arrivals is as important as safety rating. So that means the driver doesn't have much control about how to manage their clock. The 14 is usually the one that puts people in a bind, so I'm calling BS on this idea.

Here is the reality that many of you guys are forgetting. After fueling at TA, I stopped the clock and parked. Then I shower and Eat. By that time, 1-2 hours have already passed. If I cross the street to park at Pilot, I will trigger the 5mph rule and have to restart my 10 hour break.

I dont fuel at pilot and dont want to pay $14 to shower there. Maybe most guys will just skip the shower thing but I cant stand nappy hair and oily skin. I know most truckers dont shower much so those guys will have less issues than me.

I am just making a wake up call about the 5mph inyard move issue since very few folks are aware of it. So far, most carriers have not adopted it in their ELog systems. Being that my company just switched to the new ELD certified compliant system, the 5mph restriction means more money out of my pocket.

I may have to pay for both parking and pay for shower from now on since where i fuel may not have a free parking spot and I cannot switch parking area once I start my rest period.

I'm the same way about doing what I can to shower first thing in the morning. Just this morning, I opted to do an 8 (to meet the appointment) at a nearby truck stop, instead of sleeping on the street at the receiver to do a full 10. I'll do my 2 here waiting but I do run the risk of having the 14 be a problem later but given normal reload and options, that's doubtful - knock on wood.

Capitalism my friend. You helped destroy the independent truck stop that used to be next door, now gone because you and your company decided to buy fuel exclusively at TA. Now you have to pay for something that was "free". How's that workin' out for ya there Bunky?

That's the part that has me baffled actually. After fueling why didn't you find a proper parking spot?

No free parking left, either pay or go across the street and park at the Pilot. No sympathy from me for people who park 'on the side' when there is parking available. Park at the Pilot and walk back over for your free shower if need be.

Does the pocket guide list all major truck stops? Where do you purchase them and how much?

It list all the main chains Pilot or TA and loves should have them. They're around $5.00 which isn't much because it is a life saver.

With e logs you can drive off duty no load but you must be going in other direction of next load which usallly does not help much

Yup happend to me to so I just paid 14 for the night that's a little over $1.00 an hour and I could stay up to 24 hrs which in realty cheep if you are doing a 34 most will not charge a second full day in that case but rather only what you need to compleet reset . Becides cheaper than a illegal parking fine or a tow job in the middle of the night .yes you still pay tow fee even if you go else where to park so just pay upon arrival and get it over with .
