That was exciting. It got cool and dark here and the but no total eclipse.Still neat to watch.
motocross25 and Crude Truckin' Thank this. -
Reporting live from Michigan...it was pretty lame. 80% totality and it got a bit darker. I drove through a storm in western Indiana/eastern Illinois on Thursday that got dark enough for all my gauges to be glowing clearly so I was expecting that type of darkness. BUT the concept of it was cool still. Maybe the path of totality was the only place to really get an exciting show.

The eclipse was a daylight thing here in North Central Arkansas. Nothing changed pretty much.
You think those maps with all the precision would have shown some form of shady or twilight for us but that did not happen.
I did watch it over NASA and the G-III (Gulfstream III I think a wonderful small jet that can reach 46000 feet and fly faster than most wide body airliners) had the eclipse over the ocean west of Oregon and it was amazing. If I had a 4K television it would have been even more amazing.
I followed it across the USA and eh.. it was wonderful for the people to gather together without combat or stress as we have been apparently doing these last few years.
It might just be one of the last National Gatherings we have had today in a while if I think the future will be a little more difficult with a civil form of war among those incited by certain provactive parties intent on destroying our wonderful Country.
I cannot help but think of the thousands cheering the show that they recieved in first hand today. Who cares about all the little things in life such as blue state or red state etc. The People were happy for once today. That reminded me of "Hands Across America" We participated in so long ago. (I think coming up on 30 years if memory serves... I remember that day very well in our massive line on US 40 just outside of the baltimore Golden ring mall limits (Ring road) that day.
We can use a few more morale boosting national gatherings like today for the sake of our Nation. -
motocross25, dca and Dave_in_AZ Thank this.

I set the clock ahead and told my kids to get ready for bed.
motocross25, dca, Dave_in_AZ and 2 others Thank this. -
Anticlimactic, to be sure. I plan to visit friends for the 2024 eclipse, they live in the path of totality. And yes, I'll be armed to defend against nutjobs.
Dave_in_AZ and bzinger Thank this.
