If what you're saying is true, then why do they ask permission to search? And if you don't give consent, why then do they threaten to bring the dogs?

Yeah but giving a cop right to decide what's reasonable and what is not, is itself unreasonable.
If you give them any right that can be abused they WILL abuse it.Period. I mean,many of them already believe that THEY are the law.

Short version: probable cause is all that's needed to search a vehicle on highways or parked in temporary parking. It isn't protected by the 4th amendment the way a permanent dwelling is against search and seizure.

 

In my day it was called government. Its basically a class about our government and laws. The different branches of government, thier responsibilities, how laws are passed, etc etc.

Specifically as to what I highlighted. The government is required by the constitution to know of everyone's existence in the country and confirm such every 10 years.
