April of 2013 I began CDL training w/ Swift in Memphis. After training I went out w/ mentor and then on road solo. I loved it but lasted only 6 months due to 3 minor "preventables" along w/ one ticket for missing a weigh station. I was fired on Nov. 4, 2013 and no longer have my CDL. Fast forward 3 years and 10 months (today) and I would like to have another shot at truck driving. I really enjoyed it and feel as if I will do much better if given a clean slate and a second chance. Due to current circumstances, I likely won't begin the application process until January 2018 which will have me over the 4 year mark since my last preventable. My hope is to attend C1 Trucking School thru Driver Solutions and drive for one year with PAM Transport before finding greener pastures elsewhere. Another factor to consider is that I never paid off my tuition loan to Swift (since I was fired before the one year agreement expired). So I have a couple questions: #1) How much of an issue will my preventables/ticket (from more than 4 yrs ago) be? Will this prevent me from being hired? #2) Will the fact that I failed to pay back in full my loan to Swift, cause my application to be rejected?

    I appreciate any insight. Thanks!

Please for the love of (insert favorite deity here) stay away.
If you can't manage to not keep being in wrecks and hitting everything around you do not belong in a truck.

Swift does dac. Pam does dac. Your dac shows you being fired for safety reason. Accidents on your mvr?

Request a copy thru hireright and see what's on it.

Why go back to school to get your cdl? Wouldn't a permit followed by refresher course/training allow you to get your cdl back?

With your tarnished record it doesn't sound to me like you enjoyed it.All I can say is apply and see what they say.Have back to back marks in 6 months and the beginning of your career doesn't look good.

So what's different from now and almost 4 years ago? Not like you've been practicing driving and have gotten better. Honestly, all of those incidents in that short amount of time shows a consistent pattern of carelessness.

I'm not so sure a refresher course can fix that.

I will definitely be better this time around. No question. There are reasons why I know this to be true but that detail veers the discussion away from the point of my post. With all of the above established, what do you think the chances are I will be given a 2nd chance? Thanks.

Exactly- What were these minor accidents?
Are we talking you crashing into other vehicles..Or Bumping softly stationary objects while maybe in close proximities? As for Blowing the scale- I can't give you much grief because I've done it a few times,But never caught, I Don't recommend you do that again though.

I believe in 2nd chances-Even Third If a Man has the Desire to be a True Professional Truck Driver- Not a Punk with electrical Gadgets and Beach Attire.

Now- Having said that- If you have a Sustained work Ethic Mentality- I'
m Sure you'll find a second Chance- Good Luck.

P.S. Tell us what these minor "preventables" Were please

Accidents happen.... otherwise they would be called onpurposes. But 3 preventables ,minor or otherwise is just plain accident prone. Your chances of a second shot are not impossible but very thin. You might get lucky and that chance might come tomorrow but be prepared to take the most crappy lowest paid company that will give you that second shot, because for a while until you keep your nose clean and prove your worth that's what you will more than likely have to start out with. Get your license find a O/O that needs a driver real bad. MAYBE!!! his insurance company will except you. BUT!! my experience with the O/O's I have worked for, good luck getting what's owed to you.

I will refrain from comment due to my suspicion that Allen Funt is lurking nearby.
