Another good reason not to accept their Macropoint tracking b.s. They know when you arrived and departed if you accepted their Macropoint. That's just a lame excuse about you not calling in.

Sad thing is, some of these underhanded brokers bill and collect the detention. But, they will use some lame excuse as to why they can't pay you.

That sir is a guarantee they file for it every chance they get!!!!!!!! It's like these aftermarket warranties. They always tell you not covered 3 times before they will start working with you. Most people just take the first NO and leave.

Long story short, I deadheaded a lot this week.
1100 miles empty. 2600 loaded. $6538 revenue and I get to go home for the long weekend.

Went to Minot, ND this week.

Never been to Minot before. I always pronounced it "My-NO". People there call it My Knot or Mine- it. Lol. It's French, ######...t is silent. Actually the French would say "Me-NO".

I was lucky to get a tanker endorsed load going up there for good money.

So, I'm picking up this load of sunflower seeds in MN going to Detroit area.
I get to go home this weekend. Hadn't even realize it was a holiday weekend.

Google is showing it's actually 82 miles shorter if I go through the UP.

Anyone have any experience going from MN to the UP and down over the Macinac Bridge?

I probably won't go that way. What happens if something happens like a tire blowout or worse? It's like no man's land up there.

I'll just go the other way through chicagoland :-(
Sure would be a pretty drive, though... traffic will be bad on I75. Everybody and their brother will be going up north in MI tomorrow/Friday.

I'll just go the populated way.

Took a beer load up that way. Across the bridge and all the way to the tip ... actually a lot of small truck stops up there.

So, will you be going back anytime soon?

I didnt realize either until today when one of my guys reminded me about Labor Day. I actually really like for my drivers to get a long weekend break. But, man does it kill revenue. It almost with time makes you jaded towards holidays! Sad really. Sortof like when your a kid you LOVE snow, but now I hate to see it... lame!

Toll across the Mighty Mac is $25 for trucks, and E-ZPass does NOT work there. I'd go through the UP, it's some of the best scenery in the country, in my biased opinion. And where else can you get a REAL fresh hot pasty for lunch?

Yeah I've decided I'm not going to drive 750 miles on 2 lane roads. Not gonna happen.
Not in a truck, anyways. It's the same amount of time, just slightly more miles.

I have, there is a rest area there with a beach access. I stopped for a lunch, swam a bit and went back to driving. It was awesome.Tried snowmobiling last winter and absolutely loved it, planning to go again. Its just gorgeous up there. 11.jpg 22.jpg 33.jpg

I think they raised the speed limit to 65 across us2. Beautiful drive, some nice truck stops too. You would have been going the opposite direction of everyone else so traffic is too bad. If anyone is going that way and doesn't know, the bridge will be closed on Monday from 6am till noon for the bridge walk
