I don't want transparency. Surely you've been sucking oxygen long enough that by now you realize that regulations lead to more regulations.

If the government writes a regulation that says all brokers must show the transport company what they are billing the shipper, what they are keeping and what they are paying the carrier. What's to stop the government (under pressure from brokers/shippers) to write another regulation capping rates on specific lanes?

Let the free market be free, and learn how to exploit it and take what you want from it.

It happens: trust. Figure if they move 1000 loads a year and make $500 a load: 5 times a year they pay a $300 more than they are charging. They still maintained profitability bc of all the other loads they made money on thru the year.

Regulations leading to more regulation is just speculation. If it goes that far, I can support it or disapprove if it happens. As long as we're talking about taxpayer money being spent, transparency should always be involved. From government toilet seats to what they're paying to move loads, we should know how our money is spent.

I believe in consistency. If I believe it doesn't matter what someone else makes as long as I get a fair wage, then I don't feel that I should abandon that belief to overcharge that person just because I can.

So business basics like supply and demand don't apply to your business model: what's "fair" and "consistent" is what matters to you. Got it.

Thankfully we live in a capitalist society. Least, I'm thankful for it.

If you're not happy with the rate don't haul theire load. It's as simple as that

Has anyone worked under a declaration of emergency log exemption? Doing some Hurricane Relief work and I'm wondering if when I'm done does that time count against my 70 when I go back running to normal? Am I able to head home under the exemption? Not really getting any straight answers from anyone around here.

My state is under the list of affected areas due to the Pipeline Supply being affected for fuel which is what I'm doing. Not sure if that makes a difference when coming back or not under it. I know we're able to empty to get back to grab another load to head down since the supply is screwed . Might be doing it for a while don't know.

The time you are under the load, till it's completed does not go against your 70. If your hauling fuel, run run run baby. Get that $$$$. Whenever I've hauled ice, and I've done it for 15 years worth of storms, we went back and forth as fast a we could, within a reasonable speed. Skipped all the scales. Got stopped once, showed the officer the paperwork and waved goodbye.

The "broker" is NOT the shipper so why should we not know what they charge for their service? They do not own the freight. Brokers are licensed by the government just like carriers. What is wrong with a regulation that requires them to have transparent pricing? Weird people on here...only a broker would object or a naive truck driver.

Brokers act like shippers to the carrier, and to the shipper brokers act like carriers. They talk a good game.

But anyway, we were talking about FEMA freight and if the taxpayer should be using brokers that are able to keep their fees hidden.
