AIT in phoenix requires a pre-hire letter before you can start school.
I went yesterday too three different schools AIT Phoenix and Southwest out of the three schools AIT impressed me the most the whole time I was there driving around Phoenix I saw their trucks actually out on the roads also when I asked about Hill training none of the other schools do it AIT takes you up to Sunset Point and takes you down to its about a 10-mile 6% downgrade
My school's paid for through the workforce here in Arizona.
I have a clean MVR no convictions no drugs I haven't worked since 2005.Great work for the Transportation Security Administration I've been a single stay-at-home dad since then I'm supporting myself from a small pension and inheritance I want to go back to work pay off the house cars and credit cards.
I could use any and all suggestions on companies that might be interested in hiring me and getting a pre-hire letter
I live in Show Low Arizona it's about 41 miles from I-40.
I know a pre High letter is an actual guarantee for a job but the school requires it so I would like to get that but I also really like to see who would be a potential hire for me any help would be appreciated thanks.

Why does AIT want the pre-hire letter?
Try these:
Eagle KMC Transportation - dry van & fuel tankers
Western Express - dry van & flatbed
Navajo Express - refrigerated
May Trucking Company - refrigerated
Freymiller - refrigerated
Butler Transport - refrigerated
Titan Transfer - dry van
All the above hire in Arizona.

Mountain Valley Express pays hourly and has a terminal in Phoenix. I think the pay is $18.50 an hour, but not sure. They do hire new cdl grads.

They say it's because of them being accredited they have to place so many people with jobs doesn't make sense to me their adviser said you can't go here just to go will turn you away even if you're paying cash unless you have pre hire. maybe they get some kind of funding or kick back for pre hires. AIT is also owned by werner don't know if that may be why
Thank you for the list Chinatown it helps get kind of overwhelmed searching -
AIT usually pushes Werner real aggressively. Apply to several companies, then take the best offer. All those companies on that list hire new cdl grads. Freymiller hires through the "Restore Program" which is described on the website.
Most cdl schools push 3 or 4 companies that can't keep drivers on certain accounts such as Dollar General. They make those accounts look good, but actually all they are is manual labor driver unload, and very risky for accidents/incidents. You can put lipstick on a pig, but it's still a pig,
Put Western Express at the bottom of the list; it's a second chance company for drivers with problems in their past. Some drivers do ok there though.
Start the online applications. You'll see "Intelliapp" probably pop up; this is a good deal, because you won't have to fill out a complete application for each company. Once you fill out the app the first time, it will be filled out for you automatically after that for other companies.born&raisedintheusa Thanks this. -
I know about dollar general I see those guys unloading here in show low all the time. At AIT the adviser kept mentioning werner I told him really wasn't interested in werner unless last resort. I stopped by again today and lucked out talked to deb director of career services she told me werner might be problem due to no recent work history gave me a few companies with recruiters names she works with. I will apply to any one I might have a shot and sort them out at graduation time.
I drove trucks most of the 5 years I was in the Army, was supposed to be heavy equipment operator wound up driving truck more than operating equipment. I drove Jockey truck for 2 years after I got out at georgia port authority that was fun 15 hr days. I want to go OTR for 3 to 5 years finish paying off house and car my pension and inheritance pays all my bills So trucking will be extra to do that with and OTR I won't be home to spend it. Thanks again and if you think of anything else please feel free to offer advice i will post more as things progressChinatown Thanks this. -
On your applications, just say you're retired vs. unemployed.
Many retirees start new careers in trucking, especially military retirees since they're usually still relatively young.
Trucking companies like retirees as drivers.
I wouldn't mention the inheritance or the stay-at-home dad part; just say you're retired and leave it at that.WesternPlains Thanks this. -
Southern Refrigerated Transport also might give you a pre-hire letter.

Two things. First, I think nuts that a school requires a pre-hire letter in order to take your money. Second, if you desire to attend their school, above all the others you previewed, get a letter from any company and go to the school, just don't sign any contract with any company as a prerequisite to a pre-hire letter.
