As long as I got paid in American money I wouldn't care where the owner was from.

I don't know of a single union dump truck job around here, I'm guessing most are concentrated in the big union states. In other words, depending where you are, union driving jobs may be scarce.

Another thing you have to worry about union work is layoffs. I know some union iron workers that like to brag about the big hourly money they make but only work about 6 months out of the year. Their yearly take home isn't that much to brag about. Of course with the good economy, layoffs will be less likely.

Yeah take that with a grain of salt. Had a 2015 Cascadia, got it in 2014, and in three years only time in the shop was for pm's, etc. Well and one software update. Have a 2018 Cascadia now and closing in on 70k and same thing, maintenance and that's it.

I run with a few guys and generally they have the same experience. Maybe a def pump or something like that but nothing even remotely like 2-3 months in the shop. You're right though, no one can make it with a truck in the shop that amount of time. Dealership was exaggerating things a bit. Not to say some lemons aren't out there but still....

With that said.....take the union job...

Imo the union job.But make sure of the benefits before.I worked at MCA a mail carrier years ago we were in the postal union but it wasn't the same contract as the actual postal workers. The benefits were expensive and there was no pension never understood why we were even in a union. Some think because your in a union it's all good but not always like that.

Yea, some unions aren't all that great. I know of a couple that offer almost zero benifits with average pay, and then you have to pay costly union dues on top of that.

It's nice to hear about somebody having a reliable tractor. What I said was from a couple years ago. We were sure having problems. I'd meet long haul drivers at dealerships with problems they were having a hard time fixing.
Maybe I should put up a thread asking about reliability. I might find more reliability out there?
