I have run on Elogs off and on for several years. I have yet to know of a way to fiddle with a elog, EOBR, or whatever you want to call them either way driving time can not be altered period.

 

EOBRs do not record a duty status change if it is less than 2 miles. Most of them at least. That is called fiddling in my book.

 

Our Drive timer starts at 3 MPH, however, that means nothing IF you follow a few other basic steps. I can drive 30+ MPH for a nearly 2 miles or more and not commit to Drive - IF I don't want to and IF I'm proactive before other thresholds are crossed.

But I guess other systems either are cranked all the way down OR the individuals have not figured out how to work them. I suspect the latter in most cases.

 

Yep, that is what is going away in December.

 

Even come December you can still drive 3 mph and it won't trigger drive time.

 

Max of 5 mph by my understanding, though carriers can choose lower speeds.

I'm betting you it won't as long as the CARRIER doesn't want their system to change from where it's always been.

The default settings for new setups may be that way but they will be modified to more practical settings once they figure out how.

I don't know how many times I have to stress that the "Drive timer" and the "Drive commit" are two different matters entirely.
