In my first year of truckin', I met another newbie who just happened to be a retiree. He said he didn't like the idea of sitting around waiting to die. And thought that truck driving would let him see America.
He loved it! Said his wife would be joining him soon, and they were so excited.
    Good luck to you!

I'm "semi-retired" and I am quite happy at it.

I also got very lucky in getting my first and second driving jobs. But that luck was probably made by being able to take a seasonal job at starter pay without having to scrimp to do it. And then being able to take a permanent position at starter pay as well. I wasn't worth what a driver my age with experience was worth and I #### well knew it.

Your strongest selling point as a retiree is that you are a mature adult with a work history. Your next selling point is that you are in a position to take starting pay without being in a mad scramble to get a couple cents more from the next company.

That means that if you prove to be competent you are likely to hang around for a while and make the company back the investment they spent training you.

This is your opportunity to be twenty-one years old again. You just have to be mature enough to understand ALL the implications of that statement.
