No need to belittle that income ... Home everyday, 2 weeks vacation a year and you still put 80k a year in your pocket ... that's better than 95% of drivers.

Friend of mine has had a truck at B&W and two at TVM (also under B&W) since 2012. Hates the rates but they're consistent and it's all dedicated. Good luck with the new venture!

He ain't gonna put $80k in his pocket. Take taxes out and it drops below $60, start taking maintenance and any big expenses that can and will come along and he might be lucky to break even some years. Not trying to rain on his parade, just stating the obvious.

You guys are assuming this is a long term gig. I think it's a quick thing he can start right away and put a few $$ in his pocket while seeking a more ideal, long term solution.

Some people just don't read, or comprehend what is written or typed sometimes, I am guilty of the same thing from time to time. This gig, we'll call it, is going to do just fine for the time being. It pays $.90 pm plus fsc which equates to about $1.08 pm right now. At 586 miles per trip, 6 per week that equates to; $3,797.28 Take out plates; $130.95, Escrow; $50, Ins. $40, OA; $33 Fuel; $1500 and last put not least 20% for maint. account, that leaves me with $1600.00 a week in my pocket. This is all estimated numbers of course, I don't know what my fuel mileage will be yet but I calculated it at 6mpg since I will be doing a dedicated lane hauling 25K/27K max down an interstate. Now if you take $1600.00 and multiply that by 52 weeks, you get:$83,200 Out of that one must pay taxes; of 20% or so. That will me leave me about $65,000 for the year and for "me", that is plenty of money to live "my" life on. OH! I forgot about HVUT, which is $550 a year. If I forgot anything, feel free to comment. As a company driver one is lucky to make $1,000.00 a week before taxes. As a sub-contractor at my last gig, I was making $1,000.00 avg. per week before taxes. After taxes on this gig, I will avg. about $1,200.00 a week plus the benefit of being home each and every day, and off on weekends. As a company driver, I have never had home time every day, or every weekend. To me that is worth taking this gig, until something better comes along of course. Hoping for a gig that goes from Grand Rapids to Lansing for $500.00 a trip.....we shall see.

6mpg may be stretching it. Depending on the spec's and how fast you like to ride,4-5.5 might be a better number.

Fuel gauge pegged out at full, even though tanks are half full. Oil pressure gauge barely works, stuck between 40/50 psi but it does move up when engine is running... Got fifth-wheel fully mounted now, frame completed and painted. Today is replace the rear fuel tank strap retention mount on both tanks.... This is the mount that attaches to the truck frame.
