For anyone whos owned either, what are your preferences. Looking to buy a 2014 and newer. Are they holding well with the emissions? When the DD15 were new, everybody had only negative things to say.

We took possession of a T680 with the ISX earlier this spring with 320,000 miles. Within 10,000 miles we had to go into a shop for five days to replace all of the emissions components. It now has 380,000 miles on it and we have been to the shop for other times for other issues. The ISX definitely has its own set of problems although the engine itself seems to be really strong. It does use oil whereas the DD 15 did not.

A friend just dropped 30 to 40 into his 2013 t680 with an isx. It had around 450 to 500 thousand miles. Started at the filter and worked their way forward. Ended up rebuilding the engine after they discovered a broken valve seat in it plus a couple injectors that were overfueling. They claimed thats what plugged/cracked the dpf filter. Plus a turbo to top it off. He was off work for a month dealing with this nightmare. The thing that ticked him off is that the engine ran fine with good power and didnt use any oil blah blah blah. Until the cel light came on. Good luck on your choice.

At my mechanic's shop I see lots of isx's needing rebuild at 500-600k miles. 2004-2007 with egr only were good though, lasted 1.2-1.5 mil miles

dd15 hands down over isx has a lot of issues with emissions and engines themselves, dd15 has some issues with emissions and injectors or pumps but nothing major as i see the other trucks. I'm a volvo guy and right now i would really have to think prob i would take dd15 over volvo d13 as well not as much issues i see i would suggest you get some kind of idle system like apu or the freightliner version which is a battery operated apu and i think you will be pleased.
