If TJT is the answer to everything that means the place is broke. Find a company that pays for your work.

Forget that money. You don't go through DC either, you BYPASS the whole #### thing on either 301 or US 15. One day someone is going to nuke that place and make it 10 cents per 100 acres of scorched ground as a oppertunity. No more traffic.
Drop hooks are what makes you money, 10 minutes aint no loss compared to rotting at americold in Salinas for almost three days as they did to us Team once. Three days and two nights. Unpaid.
There is also the overtime exemption etc. My life time earnings in 30 years approached 940,000 gross. More or less 30K If I was paid for everything like a fat and lazy Union man I would have done three to four times that much and have a pension to boot. But no. I had my own goals when offered a nice gig on the docks once.
The path to money in trucking is non live loading, It's drop hook. And teaming. The limitations against singles are going to get harder. None of the BS 400 mile overnights after spending half or 2/3 the previous day loading. You want freight needed on the other side of the USA in 60 hours, two turns a week 4 fillups. -
Inflation must be a mother ####er -
80's money worked out to 25 to 34K 90's money closer to 40K in places but lost a few years due to burnt DAC but gained it under table cash etc and the 2000's I approached 60 to 70K regularly. But what I made in the late 80's as a basic newbie is what works out to what a newbie will be paid in 2017, .50 a mile or 60K a year.
It is Inflation.
Expressed another way. I bought a wonderful car at 7600 retail. By the time the bank capitalized the principal and wrapped 16% interest in it became a 15K note in a couple years before I found out about it. I walked away from it allowing them to repossess it. The bank itself failed pernamently around 2011 according to FDIC, i did a great deal of rejoicing.
However, my parents told of 20% house mortgages and CD Deposit rates that paid 15% over 15 years or more in the late 70's Moving into the 80's the taxes were cut drastically and we were taken off the gold standard before then even. Suddenly everyone bought a new Beamer for DC commute. It was still junk cars at 25K retail but they were buying a badge or status symbol back then.
Finally but not last. The one home my grand parents bought together at a 1100 dollar cost (Equivilant to 45000 dollars in 1960's dollars (The home was built to order in 1923 roughly.) It sold for ... exactly 45000 in 1990. That money was consumed in 7 years flat, mostly oxygen costs and semi private residental care group home until she finally passed on. You are born with nothing and you leave with nothing. The Funeral for her and her husband was paid at 550 exactly in 1945. The value of the funeral we were provided by the home in 1990 probably was on the order of 12 to 15K based on all of the trimmings.
Our own funerals will not happen, it will (Already paid) a 3000 dollar cremation for two people and a disposal of ashes in a river near by for no extra costs. The one part of the cremation is a particle board coffin at about 430 dollars each which will be burnt along with the body and is required for transport to the crematoria. If things work out well with a local outfit I will be delivered as a lowboy load with two straps over mine to there. The driver will get his rate, the company and fuel etc all paid up.CasanovaCruiser Thanks this. -
