    Whats going on trucking community!?

Here's the deal, I love everything about trucks and traveling so why not make it a career choice!? Went on a few trips with my uncle and really fell in love with the whole lifestyle. I am 25 years old this month and finally got the guts to buckle down and do it! When I was about 18 I was a real #######. Ran with the wrong crowd and did the wrong things. In that year I caught a simple assault charge and a few simple possession charges. (Marijuana) all of which being minor misdemeanors. Anyway I paid the price for them and learned from my mistakes. So about 2 months ago I put an app in with swift trans. Yes swift that is who my uncle went through and the company I've always wanted to work for. Eventually I spoke to a recruiter. He asked about my MVR which is clean. He then asked if I had an felonies which I do not. But I felt I should be upfront and honest since I see so many people not do the same then get to orientation and get sent home for little things. This is when I told him I had simple possession charges that were misdemeanors. He then told me I would not be accepted because they are drug related. I told him I thought aslong as they weren't felonies I would be ok especially since they are almost 7 years old...needless to say it hurt my little feelings since I always wanted to do trucking as a kid and was finally old enough and able to. So now I am in a hard spot and really don't know what to do. If anybody could help with any suggestions of where to go now it would greatly appreciated.I know starting out it won't be the prettiest and I will have to work my way up but I am perfectly fine with that, just need some advice of where to get my foot in the door....don't really care about which company anymore aslong as they pay decent and have freight. Thank you

There's others companies don't worry about it , your not dead in the water.
    Read the applications carefully.
    Have you EVER BEEN convicted.
Have you BEEN convicted of bla bla in the last 5YRS.
sometimes it'll say THE LAST 7
And for some it even could be as little as 3 3 . Don't tell on yourself.
But that said , the possession is going to be a bit of a hurdle. Good Luck.

Go back to your courthouse and speak to the Clerk of Courts. Ask for a court date in front of the judge. Get a haircut, shave and put on a tie. Tell the judge you can't get the job you want and would he/she seal your record. He'll probably agree in a second if you've been clean since. Now go back and apply to anyone and put down NO when asked if you've ever been in trouble.

Chances are the Clerk may handle this without you seeing the judge. I've seen this done twice. It works!!

God forbid that I should pass judgement, but life itself has one big lesson that we all should learn as early in life as possible. Every decision we make, no matter if we are 80 or 15, every decision carries with it consequences. A person makes a decision, that person better be prepared to bare the consequences, good or bad. You made some decisions in your younger days, now the consequences are biting you in the rear.

I wish you luck in finding employment in transportation that is if you are "clean" now. How, I do not know. I guess if I was in your shoes, I would try to find a small company and go talk to the owner, prove to him that you are "free" and "clean". Milk hauling companies would be a good starting point.

Where is your location? We need to know the hiring area you live in.
There's ways to get into trucking, so be patient and we'll help you hit the road.
There's also the WIOA Program where the state pays for private cdl school, then you will have a few companies to choose from. Google : WIOA (your state name)

Not too long ago Swift would have accepted him, but now Knight runs the show. The reasoning is, the powers that be, feel profits can increase under Knight's management style.
