    As a steel hauler:

Absolutely ANYTHING going to Kansas City, MO. Seriously, they haven't changed the streets in that town since the cowboy days! Especially on the MO side of the river.

    I hate KCMO!

If the new batteries don't come in as hazmat, there's gonna be a real problem when DOT finds out...

Something about the new batteries not having the electrolyte put in them until they are ready to be put in service. I never handled a load of new batteries, so I can't say first hand.

Been to KC once and that was to Central Bag Company about fifteen years ago. They had a container blocking the easy way in, so it was playing "find a new way in" which meant backing down the street(which was thankfully deserted) into their dock which meant putting the cab at a 90 angle to the building across the street. Ended up catching the edge of the door on one of the concrete posts on either side of the dock to keep you from hitting the building. Had to hear the dock guy say "What? He can't back into a dock?"

Pretty sure that the worst thing I've ever handled was pallets of ball bearings from Asia and the pallets were narrow and made from pressed cardboard. Customer had no dock. Even with the load strapped to the walls the pallets still managed to come apart. Easiest solution was breaking down the crap skids and stacking the boxes on "real" skids. Customer's helper was a pastor which made me switch from my usual charming "Make A Sailor Blush" style of speaking to being a bit more polite and courteous. Blah blah blah. At least they had a fork lift.

I hear that! Being as I've worked around Mormons for the last several years before retirement, I did more or less learn to moderate my language. They will screw your wife, steal from you and lie to you, but most of them don't cuss.
You'll hear an "OH MY HECK" now and then, and a "GOOD HELL!" if they are really upset.:biggrin_25511:

For the past few years I've been around the Amish and every once in a while they'll let a few slip, as long as the parson doesn't know they're good to go.

If they don't have acid they should be ok. If they do, then they are considered hazmat, although subject to some weird exceptions, as well as special packing conditions.

....And if they're small enough they'll be considered "limited quantity", which means they don't count toward the aggregate total of all the hazmat on board.
