If I perform a 30-minute pre-trip inspection. Then drive8 consecutive hours before taking my break. Am I in violation of the dot break?

you're also wasting time, doing a 30 minute pre-trip. the "standard" is 15 minutes.

The Pre trip is a walk around....just flag it! The post trip MUST be 15 minutes.
I usually show my 30 minute break around the 6th to 7th hour if all drive time..Too early and you will have to show a second 30 minute break.

You have to break before 8 hours, a 30 min pre trip and 8 hours of driving is 8.5 hours on duty.

A 30 min pre trip and break before 7.5 hours of driving will work.

I was taught the opposite. On E-logs, rarely do any of my inspections last 15 minutes.

    Good point,

I remember,We were taught to stop every 3 hours- 2 hours if hazmat-

Its hard on the body going past 3 hours of driving without stretching your Bones!!!

I think I did a 6 hour stretch 1 time and when I stopped My Legs felt like Noodles stepping out of the truck
