Hello i have noticed i have a strange habit when shifting. On upshifting i push in the clutch shift to neutral and quickly shift to the next gear now sometimes i hold the neutral position too long and have to goose the throttle. For down shift i double clutch but upshift i single clutch

Is there a question in there?
austinmike Thanks this. -
Well im lost on the yard just going from first to third i can single clutch really well but for some reason on the road i always grind. With single clutching would you go straight from neutral to the gear with barely anytime between

What you are trying to do is float. On the road that's a acquired skill. No clutch shifting.
You sometimes can go from first to third empty or downhill and skip 2nd. But usually if you are loaded you need to work through the entire tree 1, 2, 3 count with me. 4 5 yay... keep her moving.
You goose the engine fine that's ok. I do a little slap once in a while if she lays over out of shift range of between say 1200 and 1600 where the next gear needs to be to take the shift up or down.
You did not indicate shoving the clutch all the way in. That's good. Don't do that unless stopped and fixing to move. That's your clutch brake so that your transmission will stop spinning and accept a gear.
Im some what afraid to say more, Im wondering if there is something deeper?Lepton1, TheFriscoKid and Puppage Thank this. -
I practice double clutching with downshifting because i haven't found any other way. With upshifting for some reason i can't seem to get the timing with double clutching i do better by just pushing the clutch and then shifting. I think im getting kind of confused ill hold it in neutral like im trying to double clutch or something i don't know

It also helps not to have the Jake brake off while up shifting

Ya I suck at shifting right now to but I'm getting better. I just try to move my left foot and right hand at the same time when the rpms are correct.

I get the downshifting i still struggle to get the rpms up high enough but i got the idea. With upshifting i always manage to mess it up and then have to goose the throttle
