$10,000 is really good for dry van for a 7 day period. Sounds like you're in FL for Tuesday. If I were you, I'd look for a cheap load going where you want, to get another good paying load. If there is nothing going to Chicago or close-ish, deadhead out to get up there.

I'm at $8,000 gross on 2825 loaded this week, delivery in Nashville in the morning. Really great week for me. See if I can do it again. It's really great considering I'm going to be in a halfway okay market. Better than TX or FL or GA or OK or worse. Best I did was $9100, took a load from AL to WA on a Tuesday for Monday. Next week I still did like $6000 on a lot of miles.

If you're thinking of taking a higher dollar load somewhere bad, think about how that will affect the following week and see what you could feasibly average for the two weeks.

Yeah I hate stopping as well. And with ELog, you can't stop anyways or you'll lose that time. There ain't any leisurely about Trucking. Never has been. The govt wants it to be that way, but elogs are going to make my job even more stressful. Stupid stupid stupid.

And hey, I eat in my truck too! Lunch meat, cheese, bread, potato salad, macaroni salad, cookies, brownies, milk, OJ, chips, etc. I'll grab a $1 cheeseburger every once in a while from McD or one or two of them sliders from Arby's.

Got to say I admire your work ethic. When under a load I am very similar. However I must stop for a meal and nap in the middle of my 11.
If you have somebody who is RELIABLY finding freight for you while you are running it makes a world of difference. This is why I leased in 2016 & 17. Needless to say it didn't work.
Now my goal is to find a load for myself after each delivery. No choice.
We will see what happens.

 

LOL. Common! They can easily cram over 4000 miles in 70 hours. I thought you have been through this yourself.
But...elogs is their salvation.

 

Thanks for advice, I'm usually go to VA or GA from there. My target is 2$ per mile for round trip to FL but I don't know what's going on right now there after Irma.

 

I remember Kherson very well. Loved the old fashioned overnight train ride up to Kiev, Odessa was interesting too. Time for some shashlik with pelmeni followed by a bliny and then a lie down LOL.

 

I'm agree but one thing if you have a future load in hand, you don't loosing your working time from delivery to loading next one. That's why I pay this percentage from my gross and not using own DOT#.

 

I know a Ukrainian dude in Richmond, Va ...studying to be a doctor, has 2 trucks, and pays his drivers $300/day guaranteed...

Maybe I should have a chat with him on throwing my "paper-log" truck to run with his big volvos.
