I'm currently on disability for depression and anxiety. Will that show up on a background check, or disqualify me from being hired?

Most drivers get anxiety when starting out and the depression isn't far behind so I'd say you're a step ahead.

How the hell is someone on disability for depression? In that case, I should go get mine. I'm the posterboy for depression and unhappiness

If you have problems with anxiety and depression trucking isn't the job for you.

You need to account for your time. Going back 7 years. If you received disability for a mental health condition.... and did not work... etc.
A birdie says that you do not want to disclose mental health issues where possible because as of the 5th version or revision of the current mental health diagnosis book used by doctors in that field is not your friend.NavigatorWife Thanks this. -

I wouldn't mention it at all because it's in the past and you're no longer on medications.
If you have periods of unemployment, just say so on the application.
Where is your location; we need to know the hiring area you live in.
Depression is nothing compared to what many drivers have been through before entering the trucking profession.
I don't know if it will show up on a background check. Were you drawing a pension from a company or social security? @Ridgeline may know if it shows up on background check or not.Last edited: Sep 18, 2017
