Lie,denie, and stick to it. A cop friend told me that. Your word against their word. But if you went to the back of your trailer to see what you hit, your goose could be cooked if its on video

You might even hear about it and be docked in pay the value of that stuff you tore out of the ground. Or even dismissed for cause. (PReventable damage...) Or get yelled at a little bit.
I once destroyed some curbing. Green uncured curbs about 15 feet worth after telling the crew boss that trailer taint gonna make that turn without wrecking that curb.
About 30 minutes of me being stubborn and saying NO, the boss started saying stuff like sending my whole roofing shingle load back to shipper. I was about to take him up on it. Dispatch says make the #### turn you wussy. (From about 1000 miles away to boot....)
Made the turn, CRUNCH. More yelling. I simply said "I told you so." and that was that.
But that was not that. Three employers over 4 years asked questions about that particular 600 dollars in damage more than anything else during that time period. It was sensational to them....Grubby and austinmike Thank this. -
I've fired guys for less and kept guys that wrecked more. You want to know the difference? The latter were honest and up-front with me. Mistakes happen, but the SHTF with me when there is a cover-up or lies.
One of the things a good employer will do is work with employees to help them get better at their jobs. I recognize not all employers are this way and that is why I would never stay at one. The flip side of that coin is that employees need to take (re)training to heart and endeavour to do their best too.DoneYourWay, JReding, Longarm and 10 others Thank this.
