I am almost ready to pull the trigger on buying a truck to lease to Landstar and now I just read some really negative stuff abut Landstar not having any freight right now? Is it that bad? Am I getting ready to buy a truck and not be able to make the payment? I thought Landstar had plenty of loads? What's up. Truth please even if it hurts. BTW, I don't mind going anywhere if the money is right.

I would venture to guess every body is hurting right now. The economy is bad.

The whole economy is very shaky here in usa.Just look at newspaper and watch and see all these big businesses going under.Everyday some big companys are shutting doors. Its an awful time for america and everyone is very scared and totally insecure. Its a sad state of affairs.

    As far as landstar goes?

I have landstars break down sheet in front of me right know.If you want i can forward this to you and show you to the penny what you need to make and all the costs to the penny that are deducted from you on a weekly basis. This formula will give you a good idea what to expect your profits to be on your NET PAY. This will give you a strong idea of how many miles you need to run,HOW MUCH RATE PER MILE YOU ABSOLUTLY NEED TO MAKE.Its all here in black and white.

I have a formula here from landstar that can surly help you decide on if you truly can live on these wages and live the kind of life you want and accomadate your familys needs.

This formula is so basic and so easy to read it kills me.Its all about very simple math.basic basic math.

i will end it with this...DO YOUR HOMEWORK.DO NOT,I REPEAT DO NOT JUST BUY A TRUCK ON YOUR CREDIT AND JUMP INTO THIS BUSINESS WITHOUT ALL OF THE FACTS.

I will help you in any way i can and show you all the deductions that are mandatory, all the expences and all that goes out from your gross earnings as an owner op...let me no...thanks

I'd love to see this spreadsheet or whatever it is. You can send it via private message but with you being new not sure if you can or not. You could post it here for all to see unless it's a huge thing.

Bottom line - is a guy like you with 20 years experience making enough working for Landstar? And then we come to the question - what is enough? One man's enough is another man's bankruptcy...

Yeah, 1pod, go ahead and post the spreadsheet or pm it to me through cybergal or brickman or any of the other mods. I'd love to see it. I was going to put 20% down on a truck.

I own my home and land and no car payments, but I don't want to make enough just to get by ... I would like to make enough to by a better home one day.

The question is: does Landstar have the freight right now? What I mean is - does Landstar have more or less freight than the other companies. Thanks

Yes, it has slowed down substantially and I am having a little bit of a time getting loads, but through the contacts I have made this year, I am keeping busy.

Post the sheet or PM it to me, I'll pass it around to those that want it with less than 50 posts.

Either way I still wanna see it.

I'd be interested in seeing that too. If hubby eventually want's to go o/o or l/o it will help us make that decision.
