With no illegal hours, and paper logs, freight rates are going to explode. They won't run e-logs for long.

It's going to be interesting. I'm on e log, and basically find it more of nuisance than really taking money away. By that I mean I spend a lot more time, a lot more, at shippers or receivers, as where before I'd stay up the road at a good truck stop.
It does make it suck hard going into major cities. Same scenario, I'd always go in in the dead of night, now that option isn't always available. I think that's the worst of it.
It is going to be interesting though. We don't have any really ####ty shippers / receivers, cause the detention is there, and if its not, no one books those loads. You might do one, learn the hard way, then that's that.

I run at night actually fixing to leave NC to Virginia on a load. Drop and hook, but when paper logs go away all the illegal logs will disappear, freight rates should explode.

Paper logs and illegal hours are not what's keeping the rates down.

I heard the same "bull" back in 1990, when CDLs were about to become a reality. You know what happened? Not one thing, if anything, rates went down. One thing for sure, whatever happened, sure didn't benefit the drivers and the ELD "crap" will follow the same route.

I don't see rates "exploding" however I do see the playing field evened up a bit, and some of the true low-ballers parking it. This can only help keep rates up, but not by much.

My biggest hope is that eLogs becoming total reality will force brokers finally stop playing their games and this too can only help keep rates moving higher at least in the short term.

And when that happens, I will be there with my pre-2000 truck on paperlogs...and they better pony up some real $$$.

My truck is paid for, so she can sit all day and also trucking is not my main income, so they can call me when they ready

    Mattflat362 Thanks this.

ELD's will drive the scumbags and outlaws out of the industry and also reduce the productivity of those that remain and switch to Elogs. This cannot help her drive up rates as there will be loads sitting around needing trucks that are no longer on the road or running behind schedule. I predict the teams are going to become more in demand as the E logs are not an issue for us.
