Want to get my CDL, one semi-recent preventable accident on MVR. Am I hosed?

I'm about 30 years old and I have to change careers. I HAD an impeccable driving record up until a couple years ago (only thing I had on my record was a seatbelt violation that's 15 years old, I think I took defensive driving for that). I was at-fault in a crash when I blew a red light, the other woman was listed as "possibly injured" in the accident report. I wasn't issued a ticket because the officer couldn't determine who was at-fault at the time, but they eventually got the traffic camera footage and listed me at fault.

Anyway, the accident will be two years old in January or February. If I went and got my CDL around that time, do you think I would I be able to find work after I finish school? I'm looking at finding work sort of soon, so whether or not I would be able to find work as a truck driver is what would determine if I go to trucking school or consider another field.

Thanks to any and all that reply in advance.

Some companies won't mess with you but others only require it to be a year old. Swift being one. They will also pay for training for the cdl.

Thanks. Trucking school it is, my man. I figure I'll never be allowed to drive the top dollar shipments since there will always be someone with zero accidents, but maybe I'll be able to eek out a living until I figure something else out.

Several companies will hire you. Where is your location? We need to know the hiring area you live in.

You would be surprised. Some of the best paid dudes in the industry right now are racking up tickets hauling cattle and working in oil fields lol

Your accident is still recent you should call around and see if anyone would hire you before attending school.

I live in Houston, so I figure there's a pretty big demand for drivers of all sorts. I just wasn't sure about the timing of the accident and all that.

There's always a demand for truck drivers no matter where you live but companies set standards and when it comes to accidents its their insurance that makes the call not the company.

I gathered that from looking around the forum a little, which is why I was wondering if anyone with experience in the industry knows if any of the bottom-feeding companies would hire me on until enough time elapses that I can move up.
