I come unglued when I see some tool running with 4 ways on. Its usually some greenhorn fresh off the boat. All 2 lane where I run. Put your big girl panties on or get off the road!

The funny thing is, they actually teach you that the "hazard lights" are there to indicate a hazard. From talking to several different LEO's that I am friends with, including state troopers, if you're travelling below the posted speed limit, even if you are rolling, you are considered a hazard, and should take every precaution to ensure the rest of the motorists are aware of you as a hazard. Also, in some situations, it's an indicator that maybe a cop might want to pull you over and find out what the issue is, maybe it's something more severe that you are actually aware of.
BTW, I would suggest for my fellow exp. drivers who wish to argue with me, 18 mos. ago, we had a massive pile up on I 80 in Wyoming that left one dead, several injured, and shut down the highway for 12+ hours. As was pointed out, POOR VISIBILITY AND SPEED were the causes of that accident, with the majority of the vehicles being trucks, in fact the crash was caused by a truck. Reducing speed, and taking whatever steps possible to ensure others are aware of your reduced speed, might definitely be a good thing. Not to mention there have been multiple large crashes in Michigan in recent years caused by speed and poor visibility.okiedokie, misterG, JReding and 1 other person Thank this. -
I use my 4 ways for backing that's about it.
If you rear end me in the rain or snow that's on you. I got 48 feet of liquid to absorb the impact I'll be alright.Mudguppy and bottomdumpin Thank this. -
DO NOT use your 4 ways. If you're moving in limited visibility you would expect other traffic to follow your 4 ways. What about the guy that's broke down off the side of the road and has his or her flashers on? That automobile that picks up your bad habit will follow those 4 ways right into the back of the truck that's broke down.
I haul gasoline and none of our drivers or any of the drivers loading at the rack will drive with their flashers on. You run into the back of us then there's a big problem. If the visibility is that bad we just simply pull of the road and wait. -
New Mexico tells motorists - in the event of severe dust storm and if you must stop, pull off the roadway and TURN OFF lights. Not sure what exactly what their thinking is there but I have an idea.
^^ This makes a lot of sense. You're going to have people stopped/parked, and you're going to have people moving the best they can. There needs to be a differentiation between parked vehicles and moving vehicles. If you're driving fast enough that to see running lights is too close to stop in time, you're driving too fast or you should be stopped. -
Im going to protest non hazard light users by not using my headlights after dark. And then im gonna slap a "cant fix stupid" sticker on the back of your trailer as i go by

I'm going to follow up my earlier comments by saying drivers who drive excessively slow to the point the feel they are a hazard and turn on their 4-ways are skeered and should probably just park it and let the adults do the work.
There. That should bring a little balance to the current discussion.Mudguppy Thanks this. -
Speaking of 4ways,this roofer was doing my neighbors roof he parked his pickup in the driveway and had his 4 ways on for a good 2 hours I finally told him, he forgot he had them on and thanked me for telling him.
