I don't carry a gun to fight back against a fully automatic rifle 32 floors up and 1000 yards (a guess) away. I carry to protect against the thug that happens to hold up the store I'm shopping in, or the restaurant I'm eating in, or the hot-head in traffic who feels the need to exit his vehicle and approach me and my family in our car. I also carry for protection against braver-than-normal coyotes stalking me in the yard, whether I'm pretriping my truck in the pre-dawn hours or checking the propane tank after dark. I also encourage my wife to carry for the same reasons. I'd feel worse losing a loved one who COULDN'T fight back, especially if I had played a role in creating their vulnerable disposition. Yes, it would suck to lose them either way...but I'd much rather my loved ones have a fighting chance to determine their own fate in a situation.spyder7723, MidSouth, 201 and 1 other person Thank this. -

The guy didn't "just snap". This was a premeditated act of domestic terrorism. I'm guessing it had a political angle as well.
He had been in that hotel room for days plotting, a whole cache of weapons were recovered in that room.
Won't be long before surveillance video shows him meandering through the hotel, eating, gambling, etc. days before he pulled the trigger.
Also won't be long before the disgusting politicians faces start showing up on t.v. with their blame tactics.homeskillet, 7-UP, drvrtech77 and 1 other person Thank this. -

Ive mentioned as a CHL person I would not consider returning fire with the colt against the shooter in the M'Bay if I was at the concert. I rather have the concert at home instead. The colt will fire a round about 410 feet roughly if I stood shoulder arm straight 6 feet above the range floor. It will land on the floor about 390ish feet to 410 feet give or take a few dozen feet. With that kind of bullet drop in ballistics the M'Bay requires a long gun. Probably a .45-70 with a ACOG or a 4x 2 inch ring. 7mm comes to mind. Old school Remington M40 copy similar to used in USMC sniping... Or similar to put a round into that window. But it's no point talking about this because no one at the concert will have a long arm availible, except in one of the private buses maybe? Suppose he ran in grabbed it and aimed at the M'Bay in the chaos, one of the concealed carries might just drop him... you never know. It's better to flee and get hard cover.
