Had one of those "I hate people" days, today.
Nobody seems to know how to turn on lights when its raining or foggy, like it was this morning. I almost introduced a little car driver to their guardian angel today. Small grey Mazda, comes out of thick fog with NO LIGHTS ON. Then gives me the bird for missing them.
Pick up truck almost took me out on my way home, apparently they don't use blinkers in Michigan (where the truck was licensed).
Dispatch sends me on a 10 stop route, with the last stop closing at 3. Normally no problem. But this times its a pick and drop, with two hours drive between the two. And my next to last stop is two hours away from the pick.
The drop immediately before the pick is a residence that can't be bothered to answer the phone, so he got moved to next week.
Must not be as hot a the paperwork said.

    To top it all off.

I got called for JURY DUTY.

Now THAT's a bad day; I can' top that. HOWEVER the cool thing in most areas I run (not sure about up by @Mike2633 and/or out by @Longarm and/or @Bob Dobalina (who's been too quiet lately...) the Staties SURE WILL chase people down for not running lights in the fog, and ticket them accordingly. As they should.
I got out of Jury Duty last year because of the job demands; it's worth a try, man!

misterG, Bob Dobalina and Mike2633 Thank this.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'll be on vacation next week. We've got a crazy amount of freight right now. They're asking schedule guys for volunteers to run extra loads and I know one guy that comes from the Dayton terminal to run on one of his days off. I usually see 2-4 US Xpress trucks skulking around the yard too. Too much work is a better problem to have than not enough.

Yeah. I'd rather be working to be honest. Vacations are supposed to be relaxing, but my wife made a checklist of all the things she knows I hate and crammed them into a week of misery bookended by a 15 hour car trip each way. Then she justified it by saying it's "for the kids."

It's ok though. I'm planning the next vacation.

LoL... does she have an Italian cousin in Ohio? Sounds like MY wife~! ;) Gotta love those "Honey Do" lists, haha!! (It's always for the kids, and then when you ask them about their input.. its like "huh?")
I get to finish building a room (or two! .. upstairs and down...) on MY vacay.. ergo, I'm prolonging the date I actually take it, hahaha! I'd rather hire somebody and go camping and fishing, myself!

    misterG and Mike2633 Thank this.

Today was the longest 9 stop route. 991 cases for 20,734lbs. Actually I was almost at 23,000lbs but they took 1 stop off because at that weight the computer flags the transport managers and has them take another look.

The one hotel I have was 5,000 lbs for 264 cases I think and they have a lot of I before E except after C crap and that makes it hard. Took me 2 hours about to do. Didn't help that when I got there a US Cargo straight truck was taking up where I needed to park so he could deliver a skid of supplies toilet paper and cleaner and stuff like that. So that was all a good waste of time waiting for him to finish his work.

Anyhow, once he was done I was able to get in there and 2 hours later I was done.

Heavy on everything at that stop.

Then after that stop was done, I was able to go to my next stop for 4grand and 195 cases. However our first van driver came and met me and him and I tackled that stop. Even with the two of us it still took us 45+ minutes at least to do 4 grand stops a hard stop both of them were hard stops both back to back.

Actually all the stops I had today were big. My first stop was 3grand for 194 cases even that stop was like taking a chair out of the stadium.

My second last stop I think that was 164 cases. I should have taken a picture trailer was packed pretty heavy. Our trailers are such clown cars, like you look at them and go "Ehh that's a small little trailer." Until you start to unload it and it's like a clown car it keeps coming and coming and coming.

Clown Cars........................ i'm just SO lmfao over that one, hahahaha!! Man, y'all work your tails off, man. I know ya do. Don't need a gym membership, told y'all! ;)
Quick question......when you (rarely as do I) pull a 16 hr. that we 'are allowed' once a week, max.... does that add 2 hours to your drive time, and/therefore 2 hours to total on duty, ergo the 16?
I'm just checking my paperwork from last week, and making sure I'm legit.

Days a Qualcomm might have been better, LoL. Awh well.

    Mike2633 Thanks this.
