Did I not post that if ELDs work for you then that is great?....I did!
The people I'm referring to are for the most part the drivers who have never had paper logs.
And a Liberal nutjob....really? I'm standing up for My Constitutional Rights!
So glad ELDs work for you, that is great but as you know it is not a one size fits all...
The Sheeple are the kids out here who think 500 bucks a week is average while they wait at shippers all day with zero compensation and think this is the norm.....As us older drivers actually realize the downward spiral of an over regulated industry.....Sorry I got your panties in a wad but I'm #### sure far from being a Liberal or a nutjob!
I'm going back to DC in a few weeks to knock on the doors of Congressman...What are you doing to support this? I have written hundreds of letters, met with people and helped more than you can imagine to help our brothers in trucking.

I'm certainly not pushing back. I am glad to see people standing up for what they believe in and maybe I misspoke a bit. I to think we are over burdened by "OUR Government" from taxes to laws. I just didn't like the name calling part and maybe I could have picked my words a little better. For me and what I do it does seem to work a little better to be on elogs. But I understand the point of many people in the industry not wanting them. I also understand what you mean by people coming into the industry making very little money and not being compensated for what they do. There are a bunch of things in this industry going down hill fast and I guess I should have read a little more before I spoke. I apologise for part of my post.

Another group of people that are helping damage our fight against these intrusive devices being forced on us are the "I have nothing to hide" people. The ones that say I have nothing to hide so an ELD wont bother me or a camera in my face wont bother me ect. ect. Our founding fathers are rolling over in there graves right now.

These fools are the modern day version of the early Colony's British Loyalists that fought against their own countrymen calling them "traitors". Those "traitors" (our Founding Fathers) went on to form the best country on earth...the USA.
This is NOT what they had in mind when the Constitution was written and they were very careful to limit the Feds to only a handful of powers. Meanwhile the Federal government continues to grow more and more powerful unconstitutionally while slowly creating a version of tyranny so many hundreds of thousands of our people died to prevent from happening again.

Read up on the article 5 convention of states , its the last hope of getting this federal gov under control .
More states are joining all the timeVsix, EZ Money, JimmyWells and 2 others Thank this. -
Don't think EZmoney was trying to bash anyone here, sometimes we all misuse words.... I'm one of the worst. Don't know how long you've been out here in a truck but, I been around since the 80's. One thing I have noticed even with my own co-workers is, many probably need the ELD and any other leash that can be attached to them electronically. And no I'm not referring to you or anyone here for that matter, but truth is many have no idea what to do next, that's why we end up with signs like this! I myself don't have the option to load / unload when I want as you mentioned. As a full O/O I try to load / unload as requested by my customer. There are times that traffic or other unforeseen things will screw with us, ELD not going to fix that. I honestly don't see it fixing any problem we have out here. The fmcsa as well as the ATA need to be cleaned out right down to the janitor and reorganized. Just my opinion though, and I'm nobody. Be safe out there.EZ Money, BigBob410, HopeOverMope and 3 others Thank this. -
Does driver facing cameras put the liability on the driver if the driver was found to be at fault for being distracted for example taking a drink or lighting a cigarette or being on their phone. If the company can find the fault was caused by you being distracted? Can the company sue you or the insurance company sue the driver? I ask because I was hit while riding my motorcycle by a teenager street racing his car. Only had 25k(the minimum allowed by Nebraska) for coverage. My under insured took over and ended up suing him for what they had to pay. It is a bad example but putting driver facing cameras seems like someone is trying to take the responsibility off them.
W9onTime Thanks this. -
Sure insurance companies love this , probably drops rates for obedient drivers .
How about lawyers getting their hands on camera footage to use against you.
He didn't check his mirrors every 8 seconds , didn't always have a seat belt on or spend 10 hours in the sleeper berth...JimmyWells Thanks this. -
Hard to believe ELD lovers here don't see where this is going.
Since the ELD can't see if you are in fact in the sleeper berth then driver cameras are the next logical step. Plus, since a drivers camera can't actually tell if you are getting a good nights sleep then vital sign scanners are the next logical step. Something like the H.E.L.O. vital sign scanner. How many people here actually spend 8 hours in bed at home? 10 hours?
HELO Smart Wristband - State-of-the-Art Wearable Technology
It monitors your vital signs in real time. That way dispatchers can tell if you should be driving or not.
Sleep Apnea....anybody? That has quieted down some. But, it's bound to come back. If your BMI is to high, sorry, no more driving for you. Luckily, I don't have to worry about that. But, most drivers are overweight from what I see out here.
No wonder big money is being spent on autonomous trucks.
DRIVERS.......are the problem. In the Governments eyes and some Carriers. Get rid of drivers at all cost and the roads will be a much safer place.Vsix, EZ Money, W9onTime and 1 other person Thank this. -
Quit a job due to drivers camera's, but I am old school. One of the benefits of driving was freedom from office politics and not having to deal with the public, or sit in a cubicle.
First it was drug testing. OK, didn't bother me as long as I was being paid to piss in a cup.
Then it was GPS. That's OK too since I dont park the rig on the companies dime, when I was being paid by the hour doing local work (being home most days or nights). Its about trust.
Now its dash cameras both front and driver cams, and a microphone to boot. Don't know about the rest of you drivers, but when I infrequently use my phone with a Bluetooth headset, I dont want dispatch and the East Indian company that owns "SmartDrive", listening in on my talk.
Best to be looking for other work, or work local. OTR is on the way out for the most part, eventually.Vsix, EZ Money, W9onTime and 1 other person Thank this.
