Yes. But don't do it during orientation wait until you are formally assigned a big truck after training.

I carried a buck special with a 7 inch blade and it's holster in open carry pretty much everywhere. NYC and hunts point etc comes to mind. It was a good companion. Even into the depots military. Although that stayed inside the tractor for obvious reasons.

It was a different and better time for all of us in those days. I seriously miss it. I wipe the eyes when I think of what how enemies did to hurt us on 9-11 and how did they ever hurt us...

I have several knives. I'm a knife nut. I have more than 30 quality knives of many types. I keep 4 spyderco folders (Colorado made) in my truck. A knife is a tool with many daily uses. Not just a weapon. Buy USA made. Don't buy Chinese. USA makes the best knives and uses the best steels.

I have a Ka-Bar that is two sizes One a large and the other is a 5 3/4 inch tanto type pointed blade. It is simply marked Ka-Bar made in Olean, NY Blade is matte black so it does not reflect light too well. It is a favorite of mine. You can use it quite fast should a bad guy attack. And it's very sharp. I would not worry too much as it will go right into the diaphragm and upwards toward the heart without getting too hung up on the ribcage and it's associated gristle.

Nice. Kabar is a decent all American military/survival style knife co. I have the marine fighting knife in all black myself. That's also in my truck. But I keep it in my emergency bag. Similar in size to that tanto you have.

I love knives. I began with collecting vintage American hunting knives. Now I like just about all styles of well made knives.

Truly the best knife to keep on person in your pocket is a genuine Swiss made army knife.

Hardly a day goes by that this tool isn't utilized. Get the one with the blade lock, as to ensure the blade doesn't close on your thumb!

I have a spyderco tenacious, a baby winchester pocket knife, a S&W pocket knife(cant tbink of the name.its small with s steel bare bones frame) and a clark (which I dislike) each one has its purpose and they all fit differently, most having a particular jean or pair of shorts that they seem to fit best with.
Having a knife on you all times is just so convenient.

Apparently it's true, if you have one of the "club" type: your best bet is a cheap claw hammer, I've been using one forever. It can come in handy for other purposes as well.

I am working with the law to determine the ability to carry the Tanto in it's holster. I am a licensed concealed carry with a holstered '09 model colt railgun plus sufficient ammunition... however in 2013 the legislature in little rock has converted the state to a free state with blades. Theoratically you can carry a Arkansas Toothpick which is a special type of blade used by whiskey riverboat men to lethal effect when it was necessary. I forget the exact techical name off hand of these types of blades. They are however very well respected, probably just short of the truly famed Bowies.

A simple piece of rebar can be a great nonchalant weapon to have nearby. Also wasp spray. Works like pepper spray but shoots 40'.
