Looking at moving an over dimensional load from AL to Wolcot CO. When I first called about a permit
lady said I 70 was good all the way . Now it looks like it will have to go over loveland pass and around Vail.
I've never been over loveland pass and the videos I found dont make me want to jump at the opportunity.
US 6 looks narrow , uphill and downhill all the way. not to mention the lack of guardrails.
is there anything I missed ?

When? How wide? How heavy? How does it pay? How desperate are you to move this load?
-
Got that right. I had a Hazmat load and they made me take US6 around instead of going through the tunnel on 70... Never again. Next time placards are getting taken off as if I don't have Hazmat and once I get through the pass I'll stop and put them back on... No guard rails when it's slick out wasn't fun... No No.RedRover, jammer910Z, buddyd157 and 4 others Thank this.

The load isn't heavy just 2500lbs but it's 12'wide and 15'tall. I'm thinking if the wind is blowing hard it might blow my little truck and trailer off the side of that 12000 foot mountain.
I watched a couple of you tubes riding that road and it sure looks narrow and long way down to the bottom.
thinking about giving this load back. plus I'd have to route around Vail as well.HalpinUout Thanks this. -
How/why would you route around Vail I-70? Through Leadville? That would be a good reason not to take the load if that be the case.
The pass isn't bad if it's not snow-covered and you're not heavy. -
Yeah, I think the tunnel is only 13'11" tall, I pulled a 14' trailer around it on the pass, it was winter but the roads were clear, but never again...
