Which Starter Company???

    .50 cpm performance pay? Why not make it base pay and retain drivers who do perform over and beyond. Reward them in many good ways to their liking.

    I like to see you dispatch me to indy to spend time with family LOL... /half teasing. All of my life dispatchers make sure that truck goes far away from anything that makes it stop.

    Yessir, I'll try to be a good boy. It's really hard not to get dirty wearing my sunday best and on good behavior.

    I do marvel at this fine internet service, imagine if we had THIS 40 years ago or more. It would have eliminated much trouble and tears.

    I think Magnum is a good choice but you should also look at Jim Palmer and Navajo, these are all reefer companies but you'll get longer runs with these companies compared to the mega dry van companies. With your work record you should have plenty of choices, be picky!

    Thanks for the input! I actually just got off the phone with Navajo and got pre-approved for hire. I've seen them mentioned often on this forum and they seem to have a pretty good reputation. The recruiter I spoke with said he knows of a few drivers that take home time how I'm planning to and that it won't be any trouble at all.

    We had a bunch of twenty five year drivers that would only do 5,000 miles a month and lived off the high seniority pay rate. So they switched to pay by performance. Great deal for a new driver. Go right to the top in six months.

    Dispatchers dispatch. But if you put in for hometime, ours get you there, no matter where there is.

    Going to Indy now, matter of fact. Might even stop by the house on the way. But probably not. Truckers truck.

    You'll hear good and bad about most companies. Pick the one that best fits your needs and don't look back. You'll learn as you gain experience which company if any is a better fit for you. Navajo & Magnum have nice equipment.

    I'm sure other drivers will tell you the same thing but get as much as you can in writing as far as pay, home time, miles etc.. Recruiters will tell you anything to get your butt in the seat. I started with Roehl, did their get your cdl program; company is pretty decent, new drivers will get most of the miles because they pay you less ($.35/mile for van when I started, $.41/mile for flatbed), they don't like to send drivers with less than a year of driving experience west of the rockies though, have one of the better home time schedules 11/3 and that's a full 3 days. Only reason I left them was because I was able to get a local, home daily job. Good luck in your search for a starter company.

    Much appreciated. I should have known better than to forget that young ones will ride that nice senority pay a whole month to do essential mileage and not be motivated to run say 15000 miles for the month. What a craven ah well forget it, the performance structure seemed to solve that problem well enough. Kudos to whomever came up with that particular solution to a short revenue situation.
