What about the people that sold paper log books? They made money, who were they related to?

 

I do believe it is more of a "bottleneck affect" disguised as a safety tool. before Trump there was a certain president that created different bills that was suppose to make everyone equal. Clean power energy, giving money to other nations, Obama Care. Everything was suppose to be better and affordable. Many are not affordable. Giving more entitlements to people in the United States instead of creating jobs. Everything seemed to cost more or increase the national debt. It's called Social Equality. Everyone is equal except for the Government. More control more power. If we were all equal there would be very few powerful people like trump to take over.
I believe the ELD's was actually created to slow down product, increasing costs so people stop buying as much. If the country would go into another depression we wold depend on the government to feed us, tell us what to do etc. etc.
I apologize if this sounds political not my intention. My five minutes of fame here and I don't drink so please don't think I am drunk. We are all nobody's individually in the governments eyes. If all drivers, truckers unite we are very powerful but so many can't because of bills and families.Understandable. I'm freaking pissed how much control Megas have on their drivers.
Again my crazy belief and not to offend anyone. Done whining and crying.

If you wish to talk about something, be plain about it. If you have a good post people will visit and do talk over the subject.

I generally stay away from conspiracies in general

There was a time long ago when America was peaceful and rather quiet. Not it's not quiet what with the Antifas stirring up trouble among other deep problems we appear to be having. People do not understand that if they do not like something, they can get themselves in to a electrion and with a sufficient majority you can move the very heaven and earth to make sure that certain laws got to the floor.

You and 535 or so people are part of Congress. There is written the laws. You also have a similar structure of government at the State and local plus township and village levels. Otherwise this Nation would be a lawless one.

 

I listened to the Road Dog trucking channel on XM radio one day, and there was a discussion about pushing the Auto Liability insurance from the minimum of 750K to a few million, I think it was 4, despite the fact that most of us carry the limit of 1 million and it was said that over 95% cases are settled or made judgment for less than that. Now the punch line; one of the Senate pusher for this legislation change was a Congressmen whose Brother in Law or Father in Law or his former pre political career practice was injury and vehicle accident litigation.
I, however, see the ELD more as a conspiracy from Mega Carriers and their barking dogs ATA to make "leveled playing field" rather than some ELD manufactures finding bonanza in this. Too much competition already. The ELDs will not change road safety statistics. Another thing they push for is to set the mph limit down to 65 or less, so they want us all go slow.

On a second thought...such new and quite thriving establishments as Keep Trucking ... would for sure lose their footing, if the mandate somehow got aborted.

 

Maybe its because I really have no horse in the race so to speak but elogs do make sense from a technological standpoint. I mean absolutely everything is digital these days. It makes sense from the standpoint of a fleet. Less time can be spent going through a dozen (or more) logbooks a month, trying to file them away etc.

Like I said earlier though, driving is only a small part of my job and I'm never racing the clock, so it makes really no difference to me or my paycheque and I know many of you have strong feelings against elogs.

 

I carried civil liability as a rider to my other insurance and think it was 2 million for less than 20 dollars a month. In Arkansas most judgements come in at 50K to around 300K or so. So they deemed my insurance a bit excessive. and we cut it to a million. I probably will never use it, but it is there just in case I drop a bad guy inside the hall and I get sued by the sobbing aint my son family...

You know there is no conspiracy other than the progression of time and technology.

If you want to live and work in the dark ages of trucking, then build a time machine but elds and other things are going to be used to do little tasks within the industry and here to stay.
