I have used one when pulling my hopper. It's a scan deal when at the shipper then pics of bols are scanned and sent with the camera. Same on receiving end. Makes my phone ring less when hauling for the bigger outfits that only call thugs like me when it's a have to case, I am gonna have that extra in my rate weather I have the tool or not. Time is money

From our side of the business these apps are a really big deal for efficiency. Do you guys realize how much time we spend making check calls?

Every single thing that makes brokerages more efficient results in their cut getting smaller. Just like every single technological improvement in trucking drives down rates. You guys should be really in favor of these things from a big picture perspective. Not so great for the freight brokerage assistants of the world though.

When we do paper log favors sometimes, not only to brokers but also to ourselves.... we don't want anyone to trace us like that. Other than that, I don't care .I guess it is all right for things such as "being on time" proof, detention proof or even a POD supplement. I really was against it a few years back, refusing to use it. I had to bend, I admit , ...I use it now all the time when they require. .$$$ always wins.

I did one for HUB group going to Dallas. You have to enable Macro Point as a condition of the load, and they still call you at pick up & delivery.

Someday gonna buy a throw away cell phone, enable it, then send it to Rhode Island or some place. :)

    Much ado about nothing.
Modern 3PL people want regular check calls. It is annoying and very unsafe. You know what I mean. You are trying to come off US45 onto I40 in Jackson TN. You are dealing with lane changes, lights, a crazy ramp and drivers buzzing around like flies around your head.
Phone rings. You ignore it. It rings again immediately. You hit a red light and pick up. Whats your ETA, where are you, is the pu complete??
    Correct answer is #### OFF.
Even if you tell them there is is no guarantee that they aren't going to continue bothering you in 10 minutes with the same stupid questions!!
Isn't that right TQL??Yeah YOU TQL!!
I use Macropoint, Kites, Convoy, Uber and anything else they want me to use.
No more phone calls. Sweet relief.
This argument that you own the phone and if they want to use it they have to pay more money is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
Got a computer on the truck?? Most do.
So when you are looking for a load do you want to charge everyone for seeing their advertisement??
What a ridiculous idea. Come into the 21st century.
We don't use CBs anymore we use phones in fact little computers that make life smoother and safer. Get with the program. Anyone who stubbornly insists that this is in some way wrong out of some over wrought sense of "intrusion". Needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Or go and live on a desert island.

...and Ladies and Gentlemen, that's why truckers continue to get bent over brokers/shippers.

completely & utterly spineless to take a stand on how to maximize revenues using their tools of trade.

No one is telling you NOT TO USE THEM...just charge for it.

    Do you unload their cargo?
Do you pay tolls for their loads?

if answer is NO & NO, then why give them a free-bee on tracking?

They either put their own tracking device in the cargo, or if they use your phone, they pay.

No wonder ya'll paid like ya'll paid, then whine about "I cant get more money from these brokers"...LMAO

Been filling in at my buddies small 3 man brokerage this week.

If every truck we have on our sheets had this app it sure would save a ton of phone calls and make for a much more efficient system.
