Training is most difficult because so many orientation hirees have 10 dollars in the pocket pending first check in 10 days.
As a trainer I have had to dig into my pocket to keep a trainee in food. And sometimes they come out of the orientation looking underweight and literally hungry. It's not my fault they show up off the bus with nothing to eat, no money to eat on and a family demanding even more back home or else....
That's ok. When they cannot continue working, there is 50 more starving wolves in next week's orientation trailer baying and raving for a chance to make money.Justrucking2, gentleroger and tscottme Thank this. -

I have the opposite problem. Trying to figure out what I can get by with. Cutting out what I want to bring. And that's just food...
Have to buy at farmers market, or health food store. Regular store stuff is too full of toxins, and pesticides. Not to mention GMO zombie food. Just for entertainment's sake...
2ea large can's of protein meal replacement drink...
2 ea 5 gallon cans of water
1ea water filter
5 pounds coffee beans, coffee grinder, coffee press
Supplements.... Magnesium both oral and topical liquids, liquid minerals, sea salt, iodine, apple cider vinegar, daily multi vitamin, fish oil, vitamins K, Bcomplex, C.
5 dozen free range eggs
1ea free range chicken
1 pound ground buffalo
1 pound beef
4 bags full of vegetables..... carrots, spinach, broccoli, avacado, coconut, peppers, onion, kale, what did I forget?
Need to strap my super duper weekend warrior BBQ on the back of the cab. For the 34 hour layover.
Hot plate, pressure cooker, george forman grill (don't worry, it's the small one).
By the time I'm finished. There won't be any room for the trainer. No room for me to sleep in a bunk. I'll have to sleep on the floor. But I be a healthy driver! -
Flying J and pilot are used rarely, and then only places like Montana when the others are not close enough.dptrucker Thanks this. -

Take a flexible duffle bag full of foods you can microwave. Microwave use is free at truckstops. Do this and you'll be ok until you start receiving paychecks. This way you can keep the foods seperate from the trainers; he may not like you prowling through his stuff.
Instant coffee
Ramen Noodles
Beenie-Weenies
Microwave soups/instant mashed potato cups,etc.Last edited: Oct 23, 2017
