On top of that, "most" guys doing paper logs have atrocious handwriting, most of them couldn't read what they wrote 3 months ago, imagine being the person in the office or the DOT guy that has to decipher all of this, the TEXT of the ELD makes things much easier for all involved.

How many fines are issued to those same "smart" drivers because they don't fill out their logbook correctly?

I guess this has always been a cloudy area and you would be better to ask "Scalemaster" or one of those guys, but as I understand it, there is "technically" no limit once you are parked and either bobtail or unladen, as long as you are coming back to that spot to "restart" your time/day, now I am sure your company would have something to say about driving 50 miles out of route to go to dinner?

ive tried getting a straight answer out of dot about this and there isnt one. mostly comes down to the carriers interpretation.

Again, I think PC is more of a company thing than a DOT thing, DOT gives you some guidelines, but ultimately I think the company dictates whether you can use them or not.

Swift doesn't even allow PC for company drivers. The company I'm with now allows it after the first six months.

It is a 108 mile trip one way from my house to my yard in Sharonville oh, my company allows us to pc too and from so long as we are bobtail. I used to be on edge when I first started with them, but ive done it so much since, I don't even think about it anymore

Ask 5 different CMV cops about how personal conveyance works, you'll get 5 different answers, likely far apart
