The blue Scania is certainly not a factory produced truck, the Iveco's are the Iveco Strator, and that is the only truck with a nose that is currently produced in Europe. However, the cab was developed for Australia, not for Europe. I can't remember ever seeing one.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Drivers have a hard time getting volvo engines and their systems fixed in this country now , no one will work on them except Volvo dealerships .
Many buy Volvo trucks with cummins engines and their systems to get service at more locations .
You seem to think we're ignorant by not buying euro trucks , where would drivers get them fixed , they would have to wait days for any part .
Then there's the fact that's there is no demand for cabovers , no owner operater wants them
If fleets bought them they would have an even harder time recruiting drivers.
Most of your arguments are just silly , we have what we want , what we need , and what our repair networks are accustom to working on98989, Bean Jr. and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Our government in their infinite wisdom decided they wanted to regulate pollution control on American trucks , and they looked to euro trucks and said let's adopt their pollution systems , euro trucks have been using them for years .
That was the biggest mistake I've ever seen in trucking , it's been a disaster , these systems have been constantly braking down .
We should have waited , developed new systems that are dependable and work here , instead of adopting your tech .
No wonder no one with a brain wants to adopt more of your techTb0n3, Bean Jr. and spyder7723 Thank this. -

The USA did do it's own thing in regards to pollution.
That is why you have the pre 2010 EGR with DPF engines.
The choice to go that route was done under lobbying from enginemakers and powerfull players in trucking.
The idea behind it was that oil and thus diesel was cheap.
That route killed Caterpillar and let to a lot off badly working engines.98989 Thanks this. -
I heard interviews with officials from government and the truck manufacturers , they assured us they knew what they were doing and the systems europe was using would work .
You can spin it anyway you want , it's been a disaster , we should have waited , and started from scratchTb0n3 and spyder7723 Thank this. -
Why is that? Simple, you whole automotive industry stopped making any kind of progress years ago, because the consumers (incl. the truckers) only wanted to buy their familiar old fashioned stuff. What is the ideal truck for a NA trucker? It should look like it came of the production line 50 years ago, it should have a pre-emission engine, two loud smoke belching chrome exhaust pipes, a dashboard full of useless gauges, and a big stick to stir in the unsynchronized gearbox. It makes him feel like a real macho man, who is taming a wild beast of a truck. It's all make believe, but who cares.
Now try getting those truckers interested in clean, quiet streamlined modern trucks, that's pointless. So the truck manufacturers did not invest in modern technology. -
that's our loss , caterpillar would have developed a system that worked if our stupid liberal government at the time didn't push us into your tech .
And cummins is the best option we have at this point , the used truck market shows that with premium prices .
You seem proud of the fact that your euro systems don't work worth a crap.
I'll stick with my de-egr-ed cummins as long as I can or until some dependable option exsistsLast edited: Oct 25, 2017
